Spanx - any good?

That's it really! I'm not looking to be six sizes smaller or anything, just something to make my postpartum tummy look a bit tighter in a lovely dress I've got for an upcoming wedding. My concern is that they dig into your waist and simply push the flab over the top?! But the over the waist ones look really uncomfrotable! What do you think?

get high waisted ones that come mid thigh and you willbe amazed. they dont squash it up they smooth an d flatten

Ronaldinhio · 22/04/2010 15:41

I agree with cyb, as usual

MaggieW · 22/04/2010 16:04

Fab fab fab way to disguise the flab, flab, flab!

EldonAve · 22/04/2010 16:10

high waisted is best

if you go to debs or john lewis they will have some you can try on

Spanx great. I don't like the ones that look like cycling shorts as uncomfortable and difficult to pee. I have some that go up to bra but otherwise like big knickers. Flatten my tummy very well.
Don't go for copycat versions, IME don't work so well.

Great, thanks - and do you just get your usual dress size? I seem to remember from trying them on in the past they are very tight!

They are great but have (or had, don't know about newer ones) one major design flaw- a massive seam right down the front. Makes it very obvious you are wearing them under anything too tight

Pofacedagain · 22/04/2010 16:34

My don't have a seam don't think. I got my own size. I think they have to be tight to suck it all in!

Ron I ahvent seen you around for ages!

I've used the high waisted-to-thigh ones for years and persisted but haven't really been a fan. I found that the waist rolled down (and I'd end up with an obvious bulge above the rolled down top) and they were v difficult to get on/off and wee in. Might have had a size too small.

Also like justallovertheplace mine have a great big seam down the front.

So I recently bought the Spanx full slip and what an improvement. It might not shrink you quite so much but there's been no rolling up or down, the silhouette is fab and you can actually go to the loo. Also it's not quite so embarrassing if DH catches you in them - he absolutely pissed himself when he walked in on me trying to get out of them after one wedding. Thanks DH!
