Race Day Outfit??

Am off for a day at York races in July and haven't a clue what to wear! We are in the premier section which means that I have to make an effort to look smart but have no clue as don't want to look like I'm going to a wedding but don't to appear scruffy either! Will not be able to stand in 5 inch heels all day though and want to be reasonably comfortable. Any suggestions?

No fascinator, or any head gear actually. I would wear a nice dress. Even the premier section of a racecourse will be reasonally smart casual, no top hats I wouldnt ahve thought

Wedges or flat shoes essential - anything else sinks into the grass and a nice dress with a cardigan. This is my standard summer day at the races attire and always looks appropriate (unless its ladies day at Ascot).

Thanks for the tip about shoes GinandChocolate - I hadn't thought about heels sinking in the grass!! Dress and a cardi is the way to go I think. Will get googling and see what I can find!
