Just a thought.
Got some off eBay for dd, almost new but wonder if whacking them in washing machine would make them sparkle?

Um, they would probably fall to pieces to be honest. Have you tried an old toothbrush and some washing up liquid?

you need to remove the leather insoles.. if v v embellished, then put them in a pillow case or net bag before washing at 40.. brings them up very well..

i've always machine washed DDs and never had an issue with bits coming off or falling apart, they are really quite sturdy

me too. always used to put dds shoes or sandals in the washing machine andthey come out really really well. never once had a problem and she had seven or eight pairs over the years..
they are really robust but do take the insole out as lulu says.

Really lulu? My dd has a pair that are filthy like this do you think they'd come up ok? I was horrified at how much money the grandparents spent on them but the quality has really impressed me, they have lasted a whole year so far (it does help that dd's feet never seem to grow)

They aren't beaded, just have 1cm size jewels on them, the gold insoles seem pretty well welded / sewn to the inside of the sandals.
Good idea re the pillowcase, will definately do that!

yes, DD has had lots of pairs, different styles, and all have come through the washing machine absolutely fine

I just had to come back and say thanks lulumaman, I washed dd's shoes this week and they have come out looking brand new
