Never worn makeup before - what is tinted moisturiser?

Many thanks to everyone who helped me with eyeshadow colours earlier in the week.

I've managed to get out to the supermarket my myself and I was looking for 'tinted moisturiser'. But nothing there was called that.

The only thing I could find near to it was moisturiser with self tan in - but I thought I'd end up with a permanant brown face and white body (I'm fairly pale complexion).

So what am I looking for?

PS To the MNetter who recommended Rody Vaseline - many thanks, its great, just my level of gloss.

Its most likely to be with the make up rather than the moisturisers I think.

Its like a watered down foundation. Do you have Boots near you - go and ask one of the No 7 girls. I quite like their intelligent foundation. It looks like chocolate sauce but goes on really well.

Thanks PotPlant - not sure I could go up to a makeup counter though. In my mid 30's and never worn makeup - I'd be so embarassed about not knowing what I'm asking for.

I have a Boots in town, if I ever get into town by myself (about twice a year) I'll have a secret shuffle in the makeup aisles.

OH but cyb, I am a scardy when it comes to this.

Maybe I could take my 22 month old as backup so she can kick off at the appropriate moment as a getaway clause.

the boots no7 tinted moisturiser is actually very good and what i wear most days.....i really love the estee lauder one but its much more costly. Wait until boots do the £5 off no7 vouchers or no7 is on 3 for 2 offer at the moment, if you need anything else.

I use Nivea daily tinted moisturiser, its with the nivea skincare in Superdrug and I think its about £3.99 or £4.99.

I use it everyday and have done for about a year now, prefer the sheer look, no more foundation for me!

You mustn't worry about the counter people. They are there to help you - assume that they will be helpful and lovely. If you find a rude one, just walk away.

I like Laura Mercier. It gives great coverage.

Do you think so? It's what I use but I like it because I can still see my freckles - it just sort of disappears whilst making my skin looking amazing.
