long black straight skirt

Having a bit of a clothing crisis as due back at work soon after 2 dc's in 2 years. Professional job so can't wear my current garb of cords, T-shirt and uggs!

Lost lots weight with dd, bf for 7m. Despite ds being the size of a brick outhouse and feeding much more, have not lost so much this time. Size 16, 5'7" and curvy! trying to avoid usual work staple of black trousers as waistband too uncomfortable and v.unflattering. Would like to wear skirts again as have lots of great tops, twinsets etc which need to see the light of day again.

I am hankering after a skirt I had from M&S many moons ago in black, brown and navy. Was mid calf length, straight, with a long back split. A heavy viscose fabric with quite a bit of stretch but hung beautifully. Best of all, a hidden elasticated waist.

Can anyone recommend something resembling this? Will pay a fair amount if it suits.

Thanks

Here? Here?

NorkilyChallenged · 17/04/2010 08:17

Please buy this.

I think it will be lovely with tops/twinsets. I have been coveting it for a while. It's not exactly what you're asking for but think it will look lovely on you

NorkilyChallenged · 17/04/2010 08:19

Or this in navy with back split

tethersend · 17/04/2010 12:45

Those skirts are amazing, Norkily.

janeite · 17/04/2010 12:47

Love that black one.

janeite · 17/04/2010 12:48

The Isobel O one.

That's very kind, norkily! Was looking for something longer and a little more forgiving, but may order this in the 16-18 size and see. who knows, may actually look presentable!

I know, they are lovely aren't they?

Janeite/Tethers - if you can recommend things to wear with those skirts for 5'6, size 12 bottom half, size 10 (ish) top half, 34A with flabby upper arms to hide, then I will definitely buy the skirt

tethersend · 17/04/2010 17:19

I would wear something like this or this tucked in with a belt- or this or a denim shirt for a more casual look.

tethersend · 17/04/2010 17:20

Tuck anything in to a pencil skirt and it looks good TBH

janeite · 17/04/2010 17:22

Unfortunately, I have the opposite nork problem to you, so I may not be the best help. I like the first and second links that Tethersend posted though - think they'd look lovely on you.

Sorry to but in but does anyone know where you can get a long skirt that has a long split at the front ? By long skirt I mean mid calf not maxi.

I used to get mine in Bay Trading but they no longer exist. My budget is £50 really - I just love them as they make me feel v feminine :-)

NorkilyChallenged · 17/04/2010 20:51

Excellent Tethers (actually you've posted that asos one to me before but it's not really me, would consider the first 2 though so might have to order the skirt. Eek)

Haven't been able to find a skirt like you describe Rexy but sure a super-finder will come along soon to help out!

tethersend · 17/04/2010 21:13

Ooops. Sorry.

Get the skirt!
