Afternoon all,

You guys did a a fabulous job helping me out for my work Xmas do and I'm hoping you can make me look presentable for in-laws wedding at the end of the month.

Am 26-28 (and will be 14 weeks pg), about 5'7' and not especially keen on wearing heels.

Budget is very flexible.

I know - it sounds impossible, but I have faith in you!!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

pink Evans is nice as it will skim over your baby bump and you can wear a lacey shrug or othertype of cover up with it

justallovertheplace · 16/04/2010 19:06

O god no, not pink satin. Never pink satin.
I quite like this from Evans That pink one will make you look the size of a bus and will crease horribly.

samsonara · 16/04/2010 19:14

, when you are preggers best to go with the size thing, no one expects you to be anything but the size of a bus and anyway linen is far worse than satin

Thanks for the suggestions so far. The pink satin scared me and the black floral wasn't long enough to cover my thunder thighs. Tethers, thanks for all of yours, I really liked the cream knee lenght one, but again don't think I have legs the world wants to see!

I've plugged the kids into the tv and had a squiz on 'tinernet, what do you think of this

teamed with this to cover my dinner lady arms

Maybe these sandals in black.

Don't want anything too fancy, as I will also be chasing around after my 5yo and 3yo and know I will end up looking scruffy

No no no
The dress will add bulk. And the cardi is frump central.
If you need a cover up, go for a really well cut, straight and sleek one.

justallovertheplace · 16/04/2010 19:36

Have you seen that they do maternity?
Something like this might be nice. Wide legged linen trousers to hide the thigh situation and a long flowing top. That way you'd get wear out of it the rest of your pregnancy too

tethersend · 16/04/2010 19:38

I really like the dress, but that cardigan is bloody awful. Shoes are ok.

How about this or this or this?

samsonara · 16/04/2010 19:41

I like it, would look fine, right mix of made an effort but might have to chase after the kids

samsonara · 16/04/2010 19:45

the shrug cover ups that tethersend has linked are much nicer and smarter though. The maternity linen trousers and long tunic is a good look esp if you get a tunic which is more going out eveningy, otherwise it might look like everyday maternity going to work wear

rosieposey · 16/04/2010 19:45

How soon do you need it? I am a size 24/26 and if i want something really knockout i shop at Torrid, its in the states but usually takes less than a week to get here, Their stuff is funky and cute and they have some amazing formal style dresses usually, and you wont see any other plus size in it.

wastwinsetandpearls · 16/04/2010 19:46

this but not sure if it is up to chasing boys

perhaps more wearable

I have one of these, dp's eyes light up when he sees it

justallovertheplace · 16/04/2010 19:47

I don't think lace would work with that dress though. it is a bit too casual for a lace shrug on top. And the flimsy straps would worry me

BorisTheBold · 16/04/2010 19:57

Sorry, I'm just sorting out kids for bed. Will be back as soon as I can!

Ok, twinset I love the Anna Scholz horse print dress but it only goes up to a 24 (not sure I can strech to the £300 double silk one!). The middle one looks a but "mumsy" for me and I do like the purple wrap one, but would need to wear heels with it - I think?

I was thinking about trousers and a top, but as I wear trousers every day for work I thought it might be "nice" for dp and my girls to see me in a dress!

So, I think we have a tentative thumbs up on the grey dress. Is this cardigan any better?

And how about these shoes or maybe in blue?

Link for the cardigan doesn't work

BorisTheBold · 16/04/2010 22:13

strange - try again

wastwinsetandpearls · 16/04/2010 22:16

I did check the sizes but I must have made a mistake there.

You did say your budget was flexible

Yes you would need to wear heels with the dress.

I can't open the cardigan on second link

BorisTheBold · 16/04/2010 22:24

waaah hope it works now!

Ok, you got me on the budget - it's flexible, but even I would feel guilty in spending that much moolah on a dress

You can get anna scholz discounted on ebay. I have a few bits.

Does the cardigan have the top underneath, will that work with the dress?

wastwinsetandpearls · 16/04/2010 22:28

I do think the dress is a little casual for a wedding but I put my heels on to have a crap so I could be wrong.

tethersend · 16/04/2010 22:59

@ wastwinset

She's right though. That dress is only ok if you dress it up... it's waay too casual with that cardi/
