I've worn black to two weddings recently, brightened it up with a pale pink corsage and pale pink pashmina. There were lots of people in black. Two years ago I was a bridesmaid and we all wore black. Think it's fine these days, quite an old fashioned thing not to.

Yes.

justallovertheplace · 16/04/2010 19:15

as long as it doesn't resemble this I think it's fine

Is it OK to wear all black? So black outfit, black shoes, black bag etc?

BunnyLebowski · 16/04/2010 23:51

LMAO at justallovertheplace

I've worn a black dress with black shoes and bag to a wedding before.

Nobody threw me out or chastised me.

I think people who perpetuate these ridiculous 'etiquette' rules need a stiff drink.....or need laid.

I think it's white that you can't wear isn't it as opposed to black?

Pennies · 17/04/2010 12:11

Maybe not if you're an ex of the groom though.

I went to a wedding reception last night. Was quite informal and fun though. I wore black as did many people. I suppose it depends on the type of wedding/reception.

DramaInPyjamas · 17/04/2010 14:19

Nothing wrong with it in my opinion

I have worn black before. However, I did check with the bride first to see if she had any objections......but then she is one of my closest friends and I considered it good manners rather than bowing to the pressure of a bridezilla!!
