Hairdressers tomorrow - fringe or not?

flier · 15/04/2010 14:14

Will I regret getting a fringe cut into my hair? Have been fringe-less for around 10 years and it took me ages to grow it out, but I feel like a change.

I like thsi style here, have a high forehead and fine hair.

Opinions please

very nice haircut indeed, I like it a lot but then I'm very keen on a graduated bob. hy don't you go for it? it won't take that long to grow out

CuppaTeaJanice · 15/04/2010 14:45

Don't if your hair is thin, as a fringe will make it even thinner.

And definitely not a half length fringe like that annoying woman on the accident claims advert who slipped on the wet floor - hers is hideous!

flier · 15/04/2010 14:46

I think I probably will, MissWooWoo, its already a graduated bob (at least it was when it got cut in October). The colour in th epic is lovely too, but I think I'd look as though I'd had a blue rinse if I got the colour too lol

CuppateaJanice, thanks for your comments; don't know which advert you mean though

I had a heavy fringe cut into my hair recently and it's taken years off me. I also had it coloured back to my natural dark brown (from increasingly brassy blonde).
Looks SOOOOOOOOOO much better.
I am not the girl with the cupcakes, but she borrowed my hair

MissWooWoo · 15/04/2010 14:51

the colour is marvellous isn't it? I think my bright and bold hair colour days are well and truly over but I am aaaaaaaaancient

hope you have a lovely day at the (said in french accent obv) salon

flier · 15/04/2010 14:52

thanks Grumpyoldhorsewoman. Nice hair

thanks MissWooWoo. It doesn't help that I don't really like going to hairdressers

i like, just make sure you go back for the free fringe trims, and not cut it yourself like i did, you can always clip it back when you want to grow it out.

flier · 15/04/2010 15:00

free fringe trims? do hairdressers do fringe trims for free?

I have just got a fringe after 20+ years of being fringe-less. Wish I had done it sooner! It covers my high wrinkled forehead and I really like it

Go for it!

southeastastra · 15/04/2010 15:19

do what i do and cut one yourself, then you'll have to go and get one done proper like

MadameCastafiore · 15/04/2010 15:46

I had a fringe cut in about 7 months ago and all my friends reckon it makes me look younger - guy at work nearly fell over when I told him I was nearer 40 than 30 the o9ther day - made me feel sooooo good!

Only thing I would be slightly concerned abou tis having fine hair and a fringe but my hairdresser swears by some charles worthington shampoo and conditioner for fine hair - and when she uses it on me I look like I have my own hair and a wig on top of it - as I don't have fine hair!

Go for it - growing it out won;t take that long if you don;t like it but it is good to have achange and do different things with your hair every so often - my motto is 'You can always grow it!'

flier · 15/04/2010 15:53

Thanks everyone. I'll be brave and go for it

flier · 15/04/2010 15:54

will take a look at charles worthington products too

come back and give us your verdict ... why don't you like going to the hairdresser?

flier · 15/04/2010 22:00

Thanks MissWooWoo, I will come back tomorrow. I've never liked going to the hairdressers, don't know why.

flier · 16/04/2010 16:13

well, I now have a fringe....and love it!

OP posts:
MissWooWoo · 16/04/2010 16:31

oooo! was just thinking about you and wondering how you got on ... glad you like it. Has it taken years off you or does it just look up to date?

flier · 16/04/2010 18:46

dh thinks it makes me look younger, and I feel more up to date . I think now how dated having a side parting made me look.

sorry MissWooWoo

MissWooWoo · 16/04/2010 20:12

no no, not at all, I've had a side parting for fucking eons ... it is time for an update ... my dp's folks are over in a few weeks time and they are staying f-o-r-e-v-e-r (they are lovely but ...!) so I am planning to spoil myself, while they look after dd. Trip to the hairdressers is on my list ... might even go for a fringe myself!

flier · 16/04/2010 23:21

ooh that will be nice, hope you get lots of time to pamper.
