Eek! I have 5 days to come up with a "will do for work or home" capsule summer wardrobe

My last thread has had no replies so have changed title and I'll carry on doing it until some bugger helps me . Anybody fancy helping?

I'm going back to work as a secondary teacher next week for 2 days a week and some possible supply. I have no clothes suitable for work and hardly any that I like for home. Unfortunately OH has just had his contract terminated and we're not sure when he'll get another one in his field so am on a tight budget.

I'm a 14-16 (14 bust and hips with a shameful 16 waist/tummy which I am currently trying to run and 30 day shred into hiding). Fair skin, blue eyes and dark blonde hair.

I'm looking for maybe a pair of trousers, a skirt and a dress. And a few tops. I'd like to be able to wear them for everyday as well as work given that I may be required to return to SAHM mum status depending on if we need to move for OH's work. And I'd like some colours as have got in a bit of a black rut.

dress £30

skirt £29

Vest tops 3 for £12 suggest get 6 black/white/cream/khaki and 2 bright colours

black cardi £22

oatmeal cardi £28

linen trousers £20

You also need some flat pumps (these can be "statement" colour if that's your thing because the clothes arte quite classic/plain, some tan wedge heels £55 and some flip flops for casual.

Total cost: £200ish

Is that what you were after??

redshoes - I'm loving the cardigan you linked to, (was meant to be the linen trousers) may have to order it for myself!

Ooh, love the black cardigan and the tea dress.
Linen trousers definitely a good idea and the vest tops.

Have red ballet flats and am scouting around for some silvery flip flops/ sandals.

This is very helpful for me too! Was about to post asking for help with capsule wardrobe for going back to work 2 days a week til October, in education-cultural sector, and a size 14-16.

I'm short though so the long cardis won't suit, anymore suggestions for tops?

robino · 15/04/2010 12:43

OK.

So far have ordered: the black cardigan, black linen trousers, a red vest top, a white vest top, a fuschia crew neck tee and a blue tunic. Oh, and a purple maxi dress [hmmm]- just thought I'd give it a go but I suspect it (and some other stuff) will be going back. £80.

And I bought a pink and white flowery, just below the knee skirt at Sainsburys just now - suspect that might be going back too. I just feel I have to force myself to try some new stuff that I might not ordinarily go for every now and again.

Don't know why that random OK is there...
