First night out since having a baby... what to wear

My DD is nearly 6 months old and as she is now having some formula I am inviting myself on a night out with some uni friends. The plan is to meet at a swish-looking bar and then go onto a lovely restaurant, both in Soho.

It's all a bit trendy for a woman who spent the winter in jeans and a Helly Hanson skiing jacket. What on earth am I going to wear?

I don't possess a pair of black trousers. I have a fairly impressive cleavage, and nice wrists(!) but otherwise am wobbly these days.

Frankly if I could chop off my head and attend as a head on a wheeled trolley I would...

LOL.

Ok - budget/shape/size/colouring please?

Gosh - I am so bossy. And are you thinking dress or dressed up jeans/trousers?

Sadly I am most comfortable in my jeans. I have some quite nice dark blue ones if that helps. I'd wear a dress but that always makes me feel a bit unlike myself, which is fine for a wedding or something but maybe not for drinks with people I've known forever. I'd like a nice new top.

Budget, I guess it depends on if I would wear it more than once. I usually shop in Whistles, bit of Boden, gasp a little at the prices in Wrap, that sort of thing.

Shape, am an hourglass, or I used to be before the babies ate my waistline. Anyway I have hips and boobs... Am a size 14 to my shame. My ankles aren't bad.

Colouring, I am quite pale (although not as much as normal thanks to last week , brown hair with natural reddish highlights and blue/green eyes.

Right - well I'd roll up your jeans a bit to show off your ankles and that look is very current.

And then perhaps buy some nice heels - perhaps cage/gladiator style - do you have anything like that already? This sort of look but not the prices perhaps?

So a blazery type jacket but a more glam top underneath.
