Stuck in a rut for work wear and needing inspiration, really

every day is same
dress
leggings
cardy
boots in winter
ballet pumps in summer

I need to be smart casual and comfy
have good legs
big boobs
little waist
child bearing hips

any ideas ladies?

In winter have worn dresses or skirts and tops, teamed with long cardi, thick tights and Uggs.

In summer it will be much the same but lighter weight dresses and skirts, teamed with sandles or ballet pumps.

Clure · 12/04/2010 22:19

same rut here
winter - black knee length skirt
black top
black cardi
black knee length boots & opaques
(I sound really imaginitive!!)

summer (this is where it gets interesting)
brightly coloured/patterned skirt
black t-shirt
used to wear flip flops till outlawed
now wear gladiator type sandals

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 12/04/2010 22:30

Footwear is tough
no uggs or open sandals allowed

looks like I'll be buying more of the same from your responses
was hoping for a revelation

deputy head wears suits and heels but I don't feel comfy in similar
she looks fab
but unapproachable

I used to wear linen trousers and long marks and spencer t shity tops with ballet pumps or birks and in winter black/grey trousers with similar tops and cardies with funky jewllry.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 12/04/2010 22:44

Mmmm I like linen trousers
but the crotch creases get on my nerves

not sure about shity tops though nicks

lol. my "uniform" sounds similar!

wide legged cords, with layered grandad neck t shirts (one long sleeved tight one under a looser 3/4 sleeve type thing) either uggs/biker boots/converse on feet.

i wear combat type trousers, again with tshirts/sweatshirt and converse and denim jacket.

various long tunics with leggings and boots

same for summer, but with no cardi/jumper/jacket and mary jane type shoes with no socks...

i just feel so lost without being in jeans!!

MmeBlueberry · 13/04/2010 07:37

I wear suits, mainly with trousers. Loafers on my feet.

cyb · 13/04/2010 07:53

I used to dress really nicely for work but now my job has changed and becoame more 'floor based'!

So tailored stuff just get wrecked soooo it's more jeans actually, with a smartish top. But thats been over the winter.

Summer I will probably wear dress over leggings again! (or maybe get some cheapy trousers like cargo or chino style)

I resent wearing my 'normal' clothes to have sand/palydough/paint/compost etc all over them

elliepac · 13/04/2010 07:54

I would love to give some wonderful inspiration but my wardrobe is very uninspiring. Trousers with various tunic type tops, leggings, boots/ballet pumps. Can't wear suits, make me feel uncomfortable.

QueenCoco · 13/04/2010 08:01

I wear jeans/converse and a polo shirt with the school logo on/hoodie. Today I'm wearing black linen trouses. But I' a additional special needs CA in a SS, so probably shouldn't be on here [goes again]

overmydeadbody · 13/04/2010 08:12

I'm stuck in a similar rut to you actually, but sometimes wear skinny black jeans and long layered tops for a bit of variety and a chnce from the usual leggings and skirts or dresses.

bowbluebell · 13/04/2010 08:55

I'm a specialist educational psyhcologist so have the difficulty of being in a nursery rolling around in the sand in the morning and at a meeting in county hall the next.

I wear jersey dresses from Phase Eight, Boden and LK Bennett, always bought in the sale, with boots or low heels. They wash and wash, even when poster painted!

When I have an important meeting, I wear M and S washable shift dress with a cardi and keep a jacket in the back of the car. These frocks also withstand poster paint and don't need ironing.

TBH I find dresses so much easier than jeans and trousers- they wash well, don't need ironing and can be dressed up/down for different seasons. Just be careful if you spend a lot of time on the floor, as chidlren always notice a flashing gusset!

nickschick · 13/04/2010 15:22

lol@me and my shity tops lmao .......

Collision · 13/04/2010 15:32

I have lots and lots of tops which I mix and match with cardis and funky necklaces/earrings.

I also accessorise with colourful shoes.

My main colour could be black trousers with red tshirt, black cardi and red shoes/necklace.

Same with navy and turquoise.

And in the summer I wear linen trousers and slip on shoes.

nickschick · 13/04/2010 15:34

are they shity tops tho

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 13/04/2010 15:44

Some good ideas

we are not allowed
jeans/denim
jeggings
uggs/sandals

today have bought linen trousers, a couple of waistcoats, new ballet pumps and loads of cheap, chunky jewellery.

OP posts:
Collision · 13/04/2010 15:54

No shity tops!

Get some coloured shoes too. Loads of them around.

Our headteacher is very funky and she has just lost 3 stone in weight. She wears coloured tights and short black skirts with waterfall cardigans.

nickschick · 13/04/2010 15:55

Youll regret it ....mark my words shity tops are the way forward.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 13/04/2010 16:10
