i have a very practical changing bag. it's functional but NOT stylish or even funky. just practical.

ds is one. i want another dc soon ish.

should i

a) keep the one i've got and spend my pennies on something else
b) get a new one as i see it lots and it's dull
c) wait till dc2 arrives and then i can justify it easily

You carry around your nappy bag every day. Before DC's, would you occasionally treat yourself to a funky new handbag? If so, I say yes, go for it (even though they really can be ouch-ey expensivo...)

I was given a gorgeous OiOi choc brown, super soft leather nappy bag for Mothers Day and I LOVE. Practical too, got fun things like a separate pouches for anppy and wipes.

Don't wait for another babe, treat yourself!

God no.

Have 3 dc's - youngest 2 in nappies and never use a changing bag - just shove a couple of nappies and some wipes in my bag or if we're going to be out for a while in the basket bit of buggy.

I agree, why use nappy bags?? Most of them are hideous, altho OiOi is one of the nicer ones Beegey.

I just pop some nappies and wipes in my large hobo and off we go...much nicer.

I have also always gone for using a larger handbag - tote style maybe - and used that instead of a specific "change bag" for all 3 of my DCs. Stylish change bags are just a moneymaking scheme IMHO so I don't buy into it! As long as you have space for nappies, bags, wipes and a drinks cup, any big enough bag will do.

BooKangerooWonders · 12/04/2010 18:36

I've never had a change bag - could never see the point. I'm me first, mummy second.

Keep dull functional change bag for Daddy to use and buy lovely new handbag for you - just pick one thats big enough for nappies wipes and bottle/cup

I've got a nice Storksak one.
Mine all seem to get ruined by a leak of a beaker or suchlike, so I would never use a decent handbag. I would go for it but not get one that is easily ruined. I've had OiOi, Skip Hop but like my current the most.

SummerToad · 12/04/2010 21:16

i have a storksac one too, style called Jess (guess what my name is) it was a gift, i would never have bought myself one but it is used every day so lovely to have a nice one. it's v handy to have a compartment for everything so there is no frantic scrabbling for a wipe while holding pooy ds by one ankle as he tries to fling himself off the changing table

Also handy to have the strap fit over the buggy so you don't have to lug it on your shoulder. But I guess if a regular handbag does this then you wouldn't need to splash out...
