My winter boots I wore with trousers had heels.

I wore them one day last week and we went to the Rec - I was not well shod for playing football

It was that or walking boots (a bit hefty soemtimes) or running shoes (prefer to wear them only when, y'know, running!

Clearly I need a pair of Converse

RunningOutOfNames · 12/04/2010 15:17

I live by the sea and love watching daytrippers trying to negotiate the pebbly beach in heels. There's not much else to amuse us down here........

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 15:19

but there are so many nice smart flat boots if that is the look you are after? tis most odd.

I don't geddit either OP. But then, I live in one pair of trainers, and never wore heels even pre-DCs.

cheesesarnie · 12/04/2010 15:21

because,because,because......they want to.possibly.

Scrudd · 12/04/2010 15:23

I don't know why women wear heels full stop.

But anyway, ummmm, because they're stupid?

VinegarTitsOnaDiet · 12/04/2010 15:23

Why do you care! let them suffer

Bonsoir · 12/04/2010 15:25

I can forgive WOHMs who drop by the park at lunchtime or pick up time to see their children for wearing heels to the park. Though not outrageous sorts of heels (which I find pretty unforgiveable except at parties).

But I agree - SAHMs who wear heels to the park? Or even strapless pink satin Chanel dresses, as I once saw last summer...

RunningOutOfNames · 12/04/2010 15:32

Bonsoir - I always remember seeing an incredibly elegant woman on the beach at Ouistreham - she was wearing an immaculate tailored linen skirt and jacket!

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 15:34

no no these are people who have chosen their childcaring outfit for the day and is definitely heel based

OP posts:
pointydog · 12/04/2010 15:42

did they all have fat calves and so are always trying to make their legs look slimmer?

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 15:53

a lot of them are the widelegged trousers/jeans and heels brigade so fatcalf camouflage no excuse.

OP posts:
pointydog · 12/04/2010 16:16

maybe fat thighs then, and they don't want to have a stumpy-legged look. You'd think they'd at least get a pair of wedges

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 16:30

lots of them are victoria/chezza wannabes, i think. is that you i spy in the oversized sunnies and stilletos, pointers??

OP posts:
pointydog · 12/04/2010 16:37

when I've lost some weight, that'll be me . I'll ditch my clogs

HousewifeOfOrangeCounty · 12/04/2010 16:39

it's madness, they should all wear a sensible fleece, bad Mum jeans and cornish pasty shoes.

MayorNaze · 12/04/2010 16:39

clogs - clearly there are no mners near me as i have seen no souls at all in CLOGS...though there were a pair in the charity shop this morning...

OP posts:
pointydog · 12/04/2010 16:41

(I don't really wear clogs. Felt compelled to add)

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 16:43

I bet that's only cause you don't go to the park any more

lljkk · 12/04/2010 16:51

Heels I can sort of understand (given that I don't understand at all because I would never wear 'em, but I except that different people do different things) -- I mean, that's your own choice about your own feet, right? Ditto posh dresses or make-up, etc.

What I don't get is people who take their children to the park when the kids are wearing smart/new/pale colour clothes and shoes... and then rail at their children for getting dirty! Or moan at other children for doing anything that might cause their precious offspring to get dirty. Like playing tag or getting mud on the slide or chasing about. So basically, the parents don't know what going to the park is supposed to be about... oh, except maybe that it looks like you're doing the right thing by your kids.

Clary · 12/04/2010 18:15

well there may be smart flat boots but 2 things:

  1. I prefer heels with trousers for work, which is what I got them for;

  2. I am now out of work so have no money for new boots!

I like wearing heels actually, my legs look nicer in them and so do I.

I like football too tho, so I have a bit of a dichotomy/dilemma type deal there....

traceybath · 12/04/2010 18:20

I am currently wearing clogs.

I never wear flat shoes - ever.

I have 3 small dc's who I manage to look after/run after etc.

Am I freak of nature - no I just know how to walk in a sensible/chunky heel.

traceybath · 12/04/2010 18:21

Oh and I also wear large sunglasses and they're 'designer' - lordy, you'd hate me
