How to FatFace sizes come up?

Clothes sizes drive me mad. I have size 14 jeans I wore to do the gardening this afternoon, which I bought when I was in 6th form (20+years ago) which still fit fine.

I also have size 10 Next Jeans bought more recently and am usually 8 or 10, but 12 if it's something fitted around the thighs, in M&S. So what do I need in FatFace?

I find Fat Face quite generous.

I am generally a size 14, but wear a 12 in Fat face

PatsyStone · 11/04/2010 21:36

Fat Face are enormous I ordered some tunics and dresses in size 8 a few months back and it all had to go back, as they were like giant tents (I am short though) Vanity sizing madness

If you're usually an 8/10 I would get an 8.

dottyaboutstripes · 11/04/2010 22:17

It's all massive!

SixtyFootDoll · 11/04/2010 22:19

Huge sizes
I am a 12 on top , 12-14 bottom normaaly

Am a 10 in fat face!

lisbey · 11/04/2010 22:23

Excellent - sounds like I can order an 8 then !!!

Madness that I was a 14 at 16 and an 8 more than 20 years later after 2 children and at least a stone heavier (all muscle obviously )

It's ridiculous. I was a size 14 when I was about 12 years old. Now 40, with 6 kids and I need a size 8 in Fat Face. Makes me wonder where the genuinely skinny people find clothes to fit!

reddaisy · 11/04/2010 23:17

Even their shoes are huge! I bought two pairs in a hurry and I had to go down from a seven to a five...very strange

annh · 11/04/2010 23:33

How odd, their kids stuff is definitely on the small side. DS1, who will be 12 in June, has already grown out of all the 12-13 stuff from Fat Face and DS2, who has just turned 9, has wrists poking out from a 10-11 sweatshirt.

providentielle · 12/04/2010 01:06

I agree, I'm a size 8 and everything in fat face swamps me

bellissima · 12/04/2010 13:32

Huge. I'm like providentielle. They did seem to have a few size 6s last year but not this year. In any case I find the colours and designs this year orrible. But can also confirm what annh says - my DDs not exactly large (take after me!) and yet the cardis and tops are often a bit skimpy on them (skirts less so).

WeNeedToLeaveInFiveMinutes · 12/04/2010 13:38

The last thing I got was size smaller than usual too. I'm quite short so was delighted to see they had petite trousers. Even though I'm tall for "petite" (a whopping 160cm if I stand up really straight) they dragged on the floor even with 2" heels. So too wide and too long!

mrsflux · 12/04/2010 14:59

that's just depressed me.
i just got some size 10 jeans and felt v smug as they are the first pair i've bought since ds was born a year ago!
i'm usually a 10/12 bottom.
the size 10 vests are what i would call a 10. i am usually a 10 on top - never bigger!
