I have a ring with stones I want set into a new ring - any idea of very rough cost?

I have a ring that has a massive emerald and 12 diamonds, which is great because I love emeralds, but I have only worn it once or twice because it looks very masculine the way it is set (very thick gold band like a wedding band). I would love to have them all reset into white gold, just emerald with the diamonds surrounding, maybe some on the shoulder - nothing terribly extraordinary. Has anyone ever done something like this - I was just wondering a really stab in the dark figure. Thanks so much

I want to do this to a solitaire i have - the shank is just too big and i keep scratching everyone with it (had to take it off when i had DS and he was tiny) I had a look online at how much other people were paying and it seems that the best thing to do is to go to an independent jewellers and ask for what you want - a rough guide price might be around £250 - perhaps more or less depending on what you want. Yes that helps, thanks £250 is pretty cheap for basically a new nice emerald ring , I was worried it would be £500 +. I did read somewhere though that they keep your old setting - I want to keep mine because a) it's prob. going to be worth alot more than the one they give me as it's massive and heavy and b) incase I want to change back (was birthday present from my dad).

I had the diamonds from my engagement and wedding ring re set into a new 18ct gold ring and it cost £750.

Jeweller here- price varies from place to place- usually the chain jewellers are a lot more expensive. Depending on weight of the metal needed and the actual settings you're looking for (rubover set/ four claw etc)

For a good job I'd expect to pay around £399 - but then it can vary vastly from settng to setting.

I had my engagement ring made with 2 diamonds from a family ring. We added a sapphire in a modern style white gold setting and it was about £500. I love it, it's totally unique and love the fact it was made just for me.
