Can we talk Spring jackets please?

Every year I have the same jacket problem. I have winter covered and a variety of summery cover ups/jackets, but am stuck at this time of year. This year it feels even worse because I've enjoyed the trend for longer line tunic style tops, which makes it even harder. Do I go for a regular length jacket with the tunic poking out below or something the same length as the tunic - in which case what?

A parka? There are some quite lightweight ones about at the moment and they are v trendy. Come in lots of colours, too, not just sludgey green.

I've got one. I love it.

here but much nicer in RL

Mine's the sludgey green one on that link.

I like your mum's, too mosschops.

You see I would look like a shapeless lump in that.
I bought a bright turqoise short mac in Monsoon yesterday = only £65!

I know what you mean. I was wondering about a warmish long line/waterfall type cardi to wear over tunics or even with jeans at this time of year. I tend to either wear little denim jackets with skirts in summer or a short fitted biker style jacket with jeans - neither go with the little tunic dresses and leggings I like to wear. My normal winter coat won;t do now!

I wear either a black zip up jacket that I bought from New Look last year which is quite casual, or a gorgeous teal green blazer that I got from H&M about this time last year, it was only £20 and they had all sorts of colours.

Can't help with the tunic top poking out though, I get annoyed with this too!

Why not a tux style jacket? These look great for summer (and actually look really nice with tunic top poking out!)

Topshop has a great from that is not on the website, but I did try in on the other day and really want it! It is kind of hip length, good fabric (linen, viscose and cotton mix) and has rouched sleeves so the sleeve sits just below your elbow crease) narrow lapels and it is £60.

purplepeony · 10/04/2010 17:12

what about a short mac?
I am looking for some sort of jacket and might go the short trench coat route.

I have a mac-type coat from comptoir des cotonniers which is great for wearing with longer line stuff. You have to push the arrow on the right three times, it's the girl looking down with long blonde hair wearing it. Sorry I can't link directly to it.
I wouldn't recommend a jacket with a tunic out the bottom, looks a bit odd IMO.
