I need to get a grip. I'm a bit sporadic. I'm getting older (40 next year) and can't really afford to be sporadic anymore

FalafelAtYourFeet · 07/04/2010 08:34

I'm sporadic too. Can't help, sorry

helyg · 07/04/2010 08:54

I'm becoming less sporadic...

Morning: rinse off cleanser, day moisturiser.
Evening: rinse off cleanser, serum, eye cream, night moisturiser.

Twice a week: scrub and mask.

Once every 5-6 weeks: eyebrow wax

When I have time (probably about once every 2 months): facial at salon

That's about it. I use Avon Solutions range, it's a bit cheap and cheerful but works better on my skin than a lot of the more expensive brands I've tried.

McDreamy · 07/04/2010 09:08

I love Avon stuff although I don't use there face stuff yet. How about make-up?

whats wrong with being sporadic?

if I have to show my legs I will shave them. ditto armpits

don;t even get me started on my bikini line

I'll fake tan when I need to and dye my hair when the grey startes to show.

But I dont plan these treatments in advance, or do them to a rigourous schedule...too high maintenance for me

sungirltan · 07/04/2010 09:15

i'm religious.

morning - dove soap, sometimes lush toner spray, caffiene eye roll on, lipocils, no7 beauty serum, no7 day sorbet

evening - makeup off with baby wipes, dove soap, nivea q10 eye cream and bit of tea tree oil

once a week superdrug vitamin e facial scrub and occasionally mudd mask

aquavit · 07/04/2010 09:19

also v sporadic, esp in the hair removal department.

Have found that recent age-induced tendencies of skin to look crap have been very well countered by more routinely (i.e. most nights rather than one in five) cleaning and using serious moisturiser/facial oil at night.

In summer moisturise body every day too.

SixtyFootDoll · 07/04/2010 09:19

Cleanse tone and moisturise morning and night with Liz Earle produscts

Try to rmemeber to scrub and mask once a week, everything else as and when.

SixtyFootDoll · 07/04/2010 09:20

Moisturise all over body every day after showering too.

purplepeony · 07/04/2010 09:24

Rituals-

Daily- mornings- use warm water and cotton wool to clean face.

Apply moisturiser, sun screen every day, make up - sorry but look shit without it- very pale.
Evening- remove all with cleansers, use night cream. Currently mixing up cheap cleanser- LOreal- £3 ish- with Clinique and REN face creams.

Weekly- facial scrub- Clinique for sensitive skin.

Weekly or more often- foot file and foot cream.
Weekly- shave legs/underarms.
Weekly- file nails and apply pale polish.
Weekly- body scrub in shower using REN rose scrub- delicious.
Daily- body lotion after shower in mroning/bath at bedtime.

Every couple months- hair trim. Colour/lowlights 1-2 a year.

helyg · 07/04/2010 10:15

Make up: foundation, mascara and glossy lipstick every day. I use No7 make up.

Hair: wash every other day, straighten most days (apart from when, like today, I'm not going anywhere so it's just tied up). Colour at home about every 6 weeks, Cut every 12 weeks with a fringe trim in between.

Shave legs when I remember, but every other day in the summer.

Shower or bath every day, moisturise afterwards.

Morning: Wash face and body with Pears soap in the shower

Liz Earle toner, a nice French rose facial oil, followed by Organic Botanics extra moisturising cream.

Make up: Sometimes Origins Ginzing eye cream (depending on sleep situation), Body Shop compact which is foundation/powder, black 60s eyeliner, Benefit blusher. Evening make up would also include a tinted moisturiser, eyeshadow and mascara. And possibly lipstick/gloss. Oh, and (increasingly often these days) concealer.

Evening: Liz Earle hot polish cleanser, followed by any old night cream.

Hair: wash it with Aveda shampoo and conditioner every 5-7 days or so, apply Bumble & Bumble straightening product, leave to air dry (and I only brush it before I wash it).
Don't get a haircut more often than about 4 times a year.

Body hair: don't bother with anything other than eyebrows/facial hair which is every month or so, or if I'm beginning to look a bit hobbit-ish. Shave my underarms/legs whenever it's needed during the Summer/bare leg season. But only the lower leg - I never wear skirts/dresses above the knee.

rowingboat · 08/04/2010 19:43

Not very high maintenance here, but I do wear high factor sun screen and a hat when it is sunny (should wear sunscreen all year round, but don't)

Morning splash face with very cold water for a minute then put on a bit of organic, virgin olive oil.

Evening Winter massage face with same olive oil and remove with warm, damp cotton wool pads
Summer wash face with olive oil soap (Oliva)
Don't moisturise at night unless skin feels particularly tight in which case use a dab of olive oil.

Also use olive oil after bath
Use Boots Emollient cream or Oilatum on face in Winter before going out walking.

Bleach moustache weekly
dye eyelashes 3-4 weekly
face mask - honey or mashed avocado twice weekly

Hair t-gel (dodgy scalp) decent conditioner, serum and currently using Frizz-eze wind-down - dry naturally/scrunch dry (have curly hair)

Shave when I remember no wax no immac.

Make up concealer, lip tint and gloss
