I am struggling to find knicks for my 8 yr old dd that 'cover and contain' She has a meaty bot and belly (like me) and everything I have seen in shops is too skimpy. When I was a lass (

cycling shorts instead?

hobbittoes · 05/04/2010 10:55

M&S granny lady pants in a small size?

MaineGirl · 05/04/2010 20:26

size up in them? i have the same problem for my dd although she has a skinny waist but a curvy bottom.
i attempted to make some myself using a pattern brought off etsy but they were appaling. i brought some handamde ones from etsy that were fab and also the boden pack of 7 are a more traditional fit.
failing that good old m&s and just make sure they aren;t bikini bottoms or shorts as these are low rise.

Fayrazzled · 05/04/2010 20:27

Boden pants, although eye wateringly expensive, have good coverage and are like the "belly warmers" I remember from my childhood. Also try gap.

What about these. The shorts look like they'd give plenty of coverage and the underpants look like the sort of things I would have worn 30+ years ago. They only seem to stock up to age 7/8 but I'm sure I've seen the same ones on other websites too (but can't remember which ones - sorry!)

good idea about getting small size wifey pants; am off to M&S this week to take summat back so will have a look.

Mejon, that link is great- lovely knicks and vests etc so will scout about for bigger sizes.

No Gap round here alas which is a shame as I am looking for the plus size classic jeans as we also have problems getting jeans to fit because of same arse/gut issues

Mainegirl can you give me a link for the patterns and knicks bought from etsy please?

thanks everyone
