TK Maxx

Hi

I don't come from the area where I live and have never really been shopping here. However, I have been reading through some old threads (especially about cheap grobags) and want to go to a TK Maxx.

Local(ish!) to me are Oxford, Reading and Swindon. Does anyone know if any of them are any good - or better than the rest? Save a wasted trip or two.

Many thanks in advance.

i think the tk max looks like a jumble sale

ilovesprouts - I have only ever been to the Reading one and I agree. I just assume that I am missing something with all these people raving about it! I must admit I do avoid sales times at regular stores too for that very reason (hence wanting to know before I go which one I should try).

I just looked at the website and the Oxford and Swindon ones have kids sections but only the Swindon one has kids maxx ... err, what is that?

not sure as i live up north and been in them twice not over keen but do have nice things if you rummage

MrsBadger · 04/04/2010 17:51

they are a jumble sale and rarely worth making a special trip if you want somethign specific

ebay much better bet imo

My local store is fab. Well stocked, organised and ordered. I love it for the bargainous skin/hair care, prefumes and house hold items. The kids' stuff is also good-expensive brands such as Oilily at a fraction of the cost.

I can only go in if I am looking for a specific thing. I get my converse from there for £14-£25 which is great and some have fab lamps for my house. I can't be doing with the mess of racks to look for clothes but the shoes/house/kids/beauty sections tend to be quite small.

I got a BillyBag purse for £5 last week I was chuffed!

Don't take the kids! Mine do not last long in there as they know there is a coffee shop!

swindon is a big newish out of town place, if you go early on a week day it is quiet and tidy. it's hit and miss as to whether there is anything good in. kids bit is pretty pants at the mo, i went last week, almost no clothes, toys pretty shit. had some stuff like stairgates and mattresses. there were some generic sleeping bags, i didn;t look closely but in the past have been pretty rubbish colous / odd sizes

I only go in to look at knickers and tights...and trainers for the girls for PE. The clothes are deffo arranged like a jumble sale and I just haven't the patience for it.
