What to wear with Grey Marl

I recently bought a dress from Mango which I plan to wear when I reach my target size 10. It's grey marl, high necked with darts "sunraying" out from neck edge to upper chest, is very fitted, 3/4 sleeves and finishes a couple of inches below knee length. (Sorry have no pic)

I've bought some patent grey court shoes from office with a cone heel to wear with it, but need a jacket of some kind. What colour and style would go? I suppose if I was going for a more casual look I could put a cropped fitted denim jacket with it, but what else? Also if I want to go more formal, what would go best?

What about a short fitted trench ? If its grey Id probably wear a red jacket to add a bit of colour. I always find New Look or even Primark great for jackets.

I guess red would go, but not sure I'd be confident enough to wear red. Always been quite sober in my tastes.

Red is easy enough to wear and a classical colour. It would go well with grey. I think a bold green would go well too (if the grey is soft enough).

Navy or another shade of grey maybe with a pattern.

Would this in black go or a bit too glitzy?

How about a waterfall style like this but not in grey?

Purple could be good, not too bright.

pink goes lovely with grey marl. I wear either shocking pink (fuschia) or a baby pink.
