Having just done my laundry and balled up my socks, it appears that every single one of them has a hole in and they also seem to have the consistency of oatcakes

Where are the finest socks? Soft yet hard-wearing and purchasable online..?

my feet thank you

next - not too expensive and don't slip down your foot annoyingly like el cheapo ones do.

redshoesnoknickers · 03/04/2010 17:32

My favourite ones ever were turquoise with pink flamingos on from Tesco. Sadly they are no more, but I did get some black ones with pink flamingos on from Dotty Ps to replace them last week

bebesequin · 03/04/2010 17:35

Bridgedales- and agree Next -the wool ones are good value

Lutyens · 03/04/2010 17:45

Next and FatFace. I refuse to buy socks from supermarkets any more as they are just false economy and feel like they are made out of sandpaper after they're washed (even hand-washed!)

janeite · 03/04/2010 17:55

M&S - I like their lacy knee high ones or their three packs.

2madboys · 03/04/2010 17:56

Sorry, can't buy online, but I like Gap.

LadyBiscuit · 03/04/2010 17:58

Falke make the very finest socks known to womankind. Not cheap but beautiful

ElizabethWakefield · 03/04/2010 18:09

I second Gap, they have great socks. Asos might do them online.

Millie1 · 03/04/2010 19:10

Gap!

BarefootShirl · 03/04/2010 19:37

Never wear socks myself as I hate my feet being enclosed but I go to Next for DD, although she is getting increasingly like me - poor thing

kansasmum · 03/04/2010 19:51

Yep- definitely Gap! Great socks- come far enough up the leg that you don't need to constantly pull them up and wash really well!

Wish I had remembered to get some more when I was in town today in fact...

janeite · 03/04/2010 20:00

I've never had Gap ladies' socks but their children's ones are brilliant and last forever.

ThisCharmingFlan · 03/04/2010 20:12

Looks like I'm off to Gap then (unless the Easter Bunny brings me some Brora cashmere ones.. )

thanks folks
