National Coat Shortage?

In the olden days, you went to C and A who had a decent coat department.
Nobody seems to a good selection- do people not wear them anymore?
I am tall, size 16 top and can't wear belted coats as I look like a sack of potatoes.
I have a nice winter coat from Esprit and a lovely straight mac from CC (but not frumpy).
Where can I get a shorter mac/jacket from please?
Or am I destined to go to Blacks (please God no- horrible memories of pushing buggy with a red cagoule?

Is this too casual/green?

No hood, and is it too bland?

Hopefully someone else will come along with a better selection and/or will point out shops with good ranges
