what type of name label is best?

My two are starting a new nursery soon and all their cothes, wellies etc need to be labelled with their names. I have looked online and there seem to loads of different types, sticky, sew on etc, does anyone have any experience of these and can recommend which type are best and maybe where is the best place to buy them.
Thanks

Personally, I would buy a laundry pen and write on all the labels!

Seriously. A lot of people start off thinking it'll be lovely to sew or iron all these name tags in, pay however much for 100's of the things and end up using about 5! I did it. I still have 94 left and DD is 14!

The only problem is that we have in the past managed to sell some of their clothes, coats etc when they have grown out of them and I think having someones name written in it could be off putting.

I use sew in name tapes for school uniform, as found the iron in ones came off in the tumble drier or went hard and crinkly irritating the dcs' skin. Mine are from Cash's I chose the ones with a little logo on it so it made it instantly recognisable for ds when getting changed in the PE melee at school.

But I also just use the write in pen on the labels for nursery wear which is going to get fairly hard wear, inside wellies etc which are about £2 from Mothercare at the counter.
