Help!! Breastfeeding and going to swanky London wedding

We are going to a family wedding with reception held at quite a chic restaurant on Regent Street at the beginning of may. DS will be 20 weeks old and is ebf (refuses to take a bottle so no chance of ebm in bottle!)

The requested dress code is cocktail dress for ladies.
I would really like to look good at this wedding as it is the first time in what feels like AGES that I won't have to wear maternity stuff to a do.

Please hep with some suggestions. Preferably something I can get online as we live in the middle of nowhere

Is she the sort that needs regular snacking, or will she tolerate being fed at your convenience?

I have been in a similar situation, except that I was going out without the baby but knew that I would need to express at least once during the evening. I chose an outfit I liked, without regard to breastfeeding convenience, and found soemwhere private where I could undress my top half and pump.

Alternatively you could perhaps wear an outfit with a jacket or an elegant pashmina, so that you could remain covered while bfing at the table.

How about going for a dress like the Juliet dress but spending your money on some amazing accessories, high heel red shoes and a glittery scarf/shawl or a chunky necklace/big earrings?

I think it must be baby brain but I seem unable to come up with any good ideas on my own these days

I like the idea of the pretty shawl or pashmina too with lovely accessories. They can really make an outfit & give you some privacy if you want to feed at the table.

BTW a friend of mine went for a very posh 'champagne high tea' that she was slightly dreading at an uber-posh hotel in London with her 6 week old. They could not do enough for her apparently. Found a quiet sofa for her to feed, cleared a little corner table in a restaurant area that was closed & brought endless cups of tea and glasses of water!

See it all depends at how confident/well you can b/f, also how big your boobs are

At 3 months I was able to walk round Edinburgh during the festival carrying ds, feeding him at the same time. Had a normal stretchy maxi-dress on with a muslin over my shoulder.

Would you be able to feed in something like this?

OOH I feel your pain I'm BFing a 12 week old and he refuses a bottle, completely refuses, and I have some events coming up too

I have always (he is DC2) been able to feed in normal clothes as long as they are quite low cut and I have a feeding bra on, so usually can somehow hoik myself around an outfit... (I sound very attractive!)

Go for some killer shoes and a big gorgeous scarf and then when your DS needs feeding, take him somewhere quiet (?) and nobody will notice. Or just throw the big scarf over your shoulder and turn around and nobody will see. Definitely concentrate on accessories, and wear something simple like a black dress?

Oh maybe you have a sicky baby though in which case black not good, patterned v good- do you have a budget?

I don't really have a strict budget but obviously am looking to spend as little as pos (hopefully less than £150 in total for the whole outfit)

DS is not a sicky baby but he is quite fussy and 'messy' he comes of the boob regularly a causes me to spill a bit - so pattered really a better idea. (am hoping that will improve with age and that he will be more settled by then but would rather play it safe and get something with easy access)

get a hooter hider and wear a fabulous "regular" dress

i went to 2 posh dos when DD was 3 and then 4 weeks and i wore regular dresses which i could pull down and fed DD under the hooter hider

they are derided on here but I have found it invaluable

and the second do was a very swanky wedding - no-one batted an eyelid

A lot of those dresses on mummylooksfab could be dressed up very well with a great belt. For example the kimono dress could look great with a wide silver belt and silver heels.

The second one is lovely you wouldn't feel a bit out of place or awkward when it came to feeding in that. Couple it with some killer heels and accessories, voilà

Such great looking dresses on the Qeenbee site, She! But ruby, you may be right - ultimately it will probably cost less to just use a nursing cover.

Does anyone have any experience using them with older (more wriggly) babies?

I still use it with DD and definitely did when she was 5 months

it made her less wiggly and distractible as she was covered
