Plain Mary Jane Shoes

Monadami · 26/03/2010 20:38

I've been searching high and low for a plain black pair of Mary Jane shoes, with a 3 inch heel, but not stiletto.

Everywhere I've been, shope and online, the Mary Jane's are always ruined by some odd thing like bits of Patent, frills or some other strange design.

Does anyone know where I can get a plain black pair without embelishments. Closest thing I've found were the following, but they didn't fit properly and not quite high enough

these

Does anyone know where I can find some? Even looked in dancewear shops.
Thanks

Too clumpy?

Monadami · 26/03/2010 21:02

Thanks Tethersend, I've seen those and unfortunately, yes the heels are too clumpy.

I really like these why can't they just be plain black leather.

Still too clumpy?

tethersend · 27/03/2010 11:27

If you are a 5 or a 4

Monadami · 27/03/2010 12:50

Thanks for looking Tethersend. I'd already looked at those and liked all those styles, particulalrly the last 2, unfortunately they don't have my size, always the way. I'm a size 8.

They are patent, quite a wide strap - and is the heel too flimsy? Apart from all those shortcomings...

Not plain black really, but I wonder if this is the heel shape you wanted...

Monadami · 28/03/2010 04:13

Thanks Hula, those are quite nice, but for the wide strap and being patent. These would be perfect, but again the buyers all seem to think everyone wants patent or some other obscure styling. I think I'll just keep looking, something is bound to come up at some point.

Difficult one, as you are right in observing that mary janes seem to come mostly in patent. The only thing I could find were
these from the US

or these very pricy ones.

I just got a pair from New Look last week, £16 - bargain! Exactly like the ones in your link OP, but with a 3 inch heel. So comfortable too. Not on the website but they're in stores.

bobbiewickham · 28/03/2010 10:34

I've got some just the same as the ones you describe, they're from Repetto.

They are so comfy, the best shoes I've ever had.

SheWillBeLoved · 28/03/2010 10:39

picture of the ones from New Look

emsyj · 29/03/2010 11:35

Schuh used to stock a pair that they had for years and years. Also Jones Bootmaker often stock this style (I've bought them from there more than once).

Shoshe · 29/03/2010 15:56

Saw www.office.co.uk/womens/office/relax_frankie/33/7120/19245/1/these and thought of you.

Shoshe · 29/03/2010 15:58

bugger these!

The Holy Grail

Monadami · 31/03/2010 01:03

Thanks for all your help everyone. The New Look ones are nice, but not high enough and at £16 I would guess they're not leather??

I tried on a pair of the Office ones and they were incredibly uncomfortable and there was a big gap between my achillies and the back of the shoe, so thought best to leave them.

I don't think I could stretch to over £400 Sofaqueen, but they were quite nice, not keen on the opening at the sides though.

I think I'll keep checking on yoox.com as I love alot of the shoes there, unfortunately they never seem to have my size in the ones I want.

I saw these in M&S, but of course, no plain black leather.

The New Look ones are 'real leather' according to the little leather tag hanging off them they are actually higher than the picture makes them look. From the highest point at the back of heel to the tip of the heel, it is 3.25 inches. Unless you wanted 3 inches from the inside of the heel?

hulahooper · 31/03/2010 21:46

Prob. too clumpy/low?

Monadami · 04/04/2010 02:04

Goodness Willbeloved, how on earth do they manage to do them for £16, guess it must be huge purchase orders from India or China, a real bargain.

Hula, those ones are ok, but not keen on the ankle strap. I expect something will turn up when I'm no longer looking.

Thanks everyone.
