I know our collective searches for a waterproof coat with a hood for buggy pushing is well documented on here
so I wondered what you thought of this?

Meant to say - in black.

EldonAve · 26/03/2010 18:45

the red is hugely unflattering - esp with the pockets

Conundrumish · 26/03/2010 19:26

And the red? the only alternatives I can find are very dull walking jackets...

cruelladepoppins · 26/03/2010 19:28

The black is nice imo

LittleBunnyFooFoo · 26/03/2010 19:29

The fabric looks strange.

SoupDragon · 26/03/2010 19:31

It doesn't have taped seams so it's not truly waterproof.

EldonAve · 26/03/2010 19:47

one review says no weather flap on zip so the rain went through

MarmadukeMarmalade · 27/03/2010 09:02

Why doesn't it show it with the hood up?? makes you think the hood isn't that nice - if you know what I mean

LucyM6 · 27/03/2010 09:10

It's not bad actually. But I prefer that Gogo one someone linked to on another thread (caramel clothing i think)

citronella · 27/03/2010 09:22

Quite like it in black.

Conundrumish · 27/03/2010 20:28

Was that the horsey one Lucy?

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 28/03/2010 17:30

Someone on the 'Hasbeens' thread linked to a lightweight parka at M&S recently - nicer than that one IMO, although I'm not one for waterproofs.

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 17:50

It looks like a mans coat What is this gogo coat Lucy?

hettie · 28/03/2010 18:06

aigle and merrel do proper waterproof coats that are nice.....

Fimbow · 28/03/2010 18:08

Sorry PP - I don't like that at all, it reminds me of some of the Landsend numbers.

rowingboat · 28/03/2010 18:24

I would just buy a Berghaus jacket if I were you. Who is going to see you in the rain with your hood up!
My friend has a lovely Merrell jacket in a kind of brown herringbone finish have a look at their stuff.

navyeyelasH · 28/03/2010 19:14

every time I but my berghaus jacket on I feel like crying - I literally hate it!

I saw a nice apply green what looked like waterproof coat on some random in the supermarket last week and was too chicken to ask where it was from!!

rowingboat · 28/03/2010 20:12

Berghaus also do coats now, I saw one the other day. Quite minimalistic with a belt as I recall.
What about a coat from superdry, or firetrap or kidorable

omnishambles · 28/03/2010 20:17

I've got a black version of this bought in the joules sale for 25quid and it has lasted really well and is properly waterproof.

I hate wearing it though as its the only piece of 'useful' clothing I own ie all the rest are converse and skinny jeans and skinny tees so my joules jacket makes me feel like a frump but it really does the job.

rowingboat · 28/03/2010 20:22

Sorry, I have a firetrap mac, but I don't see anything on their website.
Barbour has some cute mac style jackets.

MillyMollyMoo · 28/03/2010 21:28

I ordered in dark purple last year, sent it back it looked far too woman of a certain age for my liking.

humptyismarriedtoanumpty · 28/03/2010 21:32

pink

Maybe I'm lucky, I live on west coast of Scotland where it rains... alot. Nobody round here seems that bothered about raincoats and how nice they are, priority is staying dry??

Why not just get a practical regatta type thing in a colour that you like?

TBH that's what I have and I could not give a shit as when it is pissing with rain I am rushing along the street and never give a seconds thought to whether somebody's coat is nice or not!!!

FWIW I thought the one from M and S in your link is hideous and only worn by old age pensioners round these parts!!

cerealqueen · 28/03/2010 21:38

I'd like it in a colour, just not black as it would be a bit heavy in the summer. I just ordered this

"Nobody round here seems that bothered about raincoats and how nice they are, priority is staying dry?? ..... FWIW I thought the one from M and S in your link is hideous and only worn by old age pensioners round these parts!!" - bit of a contradiction there Humpty!
