Buying GHD's online - huge differences in price - please help!!!

I was about to purchase my first pair of GHD's online. When I got to the checkout, the price came up in dollars also there was no 'contact us' on the web site. I didnt pay for them, as I became suspicious.

There is a huge price difference online. I dont care what colour they are, I just cant pay £100. I need them for less. Are the others fakes?

I bought mine online last year, will look and see if I can find the website. They were really good, very quick to post.

If you go onto the official GHD site there is a website checker on there which shows the offical stockists.

Sorry, but I paid just about £100 for mine as I couldnt find any that were guaranteed genuine any cheaper.

If you search the S&B archives, there was a thread a while ago about which hair straighteners were best by someone who didnt know whether to fork out for GHD's, maybe you could find a decent, cheaper alternative on there.

Cheapest I found was around £63, BUT I was not 100% confident with the sites, so I didnt want to part with my money in case the straighteners were dodgy too.

Sorry, cannot find it. Must have been before our PC was stolen last year.

I am sure that the site was recommended on MN though.

Had a look before, but found the less expensive ones on t'internet - hence the rsised suspicion when I treid to buy some.

dunno about in the UK but there are a lot of GHD fakes coming in to Australia from China - tis a big racket, apparently, and some of them are bloody dangerous. I would pay the proper money and get them from the proper stockists to be on the safe side.

I got mine from the hairdressers £99 and free bag/case, you can check the ghd website that they are an approved stockist, online they were £130....i'd be very wary of anything cheaper to be honest. 7 years ago i bought my last pair and i'm sure i paid the same amount, was pleased the price hadn't increased. They only broke because i stood on them, pacing about in the night with the baby.

Anyone advertising GHDs for under £95-100 are usually selling fakes. Scammers are good at making these look real and they are very often dangerous, as thumb says.

I got mine from Shear Beauty and they were on offer at £99. This is my second pair and my others lasted 7 years and DH paid £155 for them, so they have come down in price a lot. I love them - wouldn't use any others now, they are the only ones that get hot enough to work properly.
