this one

Too young - I know it is but I like it

Yes?

Arms a bit scary

I am 5'11" and a small 14 (was 12 last summer ) and bigger up top than bottom. Nice legs. Wedding to go to but that isn't the most important thing.

BTW as an old bird I should probably try for dignity and elegance (boo!)

We are not amused.

@ La redoute selling anything 'too young', though.

I like the first one best.

OrmRenewed · 25/03/2010 21:04

Well when you are as old as me anything is too young. But perhaps in that case I meant 'too slim'

But I tend to agree I think.

i liek the last one with the beads!
the model is wearing.
would suit blonde or v dark hair

OrmRenewed · 25/03/2010 21:08

Ooh yes beads are nice. Might have to wear with cardi though.

OP posts:
CarrieDaBabi · 25/03/2010 21:19

or how about a sort of light shrug?

OrmRenewed · 25/03/2010 21:45

a light shrug sounds delightfully insouciant and Gallic

SixtyFootDoll · 25/03/2010 21:51

The last one is rather frumpy
I like the DP one the best

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 25/03/2010 21:52

Like the first one best.

Alibobster · 25/03/2010 22:13

The last one and DP one are lovely. The next dress is awful.

MrsTicklemouseWantsBunnyEars · 25/03/2010 22:18

I only like the last one

MrsTicklemouseWantsBunnyEars · 25/03/2010 22:19

with maybe a thin, three quarter length sleeve style cardi

SixtyFootDoll · 25/03/2010 22:27

Aksherly
I zoomed in on last one and can see it is broderie anglais, and now I really like it.

moondog · 25/03/2010 23:08

Christ they are all fucking hideous.
The first one is criminal-like something an Aeroflot hostess would have worn in 1975.

FGS, be a bit more adventurous!

moondog · 25/03/2010 23:10

Laura Ashley have some lovely very well made for the price frocks at the moment.

thelunar66 · 25/03/2010 23:14

the last one is the only half-decent one.

LaRedoute and DP ones both look cheap and nasty.

that first turquoise one is, as Moondog states, too 1950s air hostess.

Shodan · 25/03/2010 23:27

I quite like no. 4.

The brown one's 'orrible though.

The blue flowery thing reminds me of Les Dawson, for some reason.

And yes, Aeroflot hostess for no.1.

But then, I wouldn't listen to me. I have no style sense whatsoever.

FiveOrangePips · 25/03/2010 23:30

I think the only okay one is the DP one, the rest are awful - irrespective of age.

Clary · 25/03/2010 23:37

Orm I don't like the first one, sorry.

Second is nice but not sure what's going on.

Third is very very short esp if you are 5ft 11

4th I like actually tho I agree re arms (mine!).

OrmRenewed · 26/03/2010 08:18

LOL at Laura Ashley being adventurous

OK I accept the aeroflot comment. But apart from that there is almost no consensus at all! Tsk MN!

Will have to have another search... I like a straightish shape - don't want anything frilly or sticky-out.

clary - have got into the habit of wearing very short but that is in the winter with thick tights or leggings.

Chandon · 26/03/2010 09:14

like the second one best, not too young, actually quite Sam cam-ish.

I am 6ft, size 12-14 and am hooked on Phase 8 dresses for weddings, they do a style which comes down to the knee, and has two layers (bottom one a play colour, in stretchy jersey, top one is more lace-lime, it clings in all the right places). I have 2 dresses from Phase Eight, and they are comfy to wear, feminine and a bit sexy (but not too ).

They are a bit $$$$, so I buy in sale (get half off) or maybe e-bay?

link: www.phase-eight.co.uk/fcp/categorylist/garment/dresses?resetFilters=true

just so you can see if you like the style.

redshoesnoknickers · 26/03/2010 09:15

Oasis have loads...thisor
this

In fact just browse the lot yourself {grin] here

MinnieMalone · 26/03/2010 09:17

They are all hideous, sorry. That first one is truly, truly grim.

Tortington · 26/03/2010 09:21

i love the oasis zig zag seam dress.

i don't like any from the op - the last one is ok spose.

the first one will make you look like a thunderbird airhostess/britneyspears

OrmRenewed · 26/03/2010 12:20

Thanks for the suggestions. I have to have freak clothes because of my height - normal dresses always have a waist that sits under my bust Which is one of the reasons I chose those first ones.
