Tighter IMO, because they nearly always get baggy with wear. Not so tight you get a muffin top though, but that depends on the height of the waist.

I had always gone for the "tighter" option until last year when I finally had to admit that all my tighter jeans basically give me a painful, bloated tummy and have never stretched as much as I anticipated they would. I have now started going for the bigger size and wearing a belt. I generally go for mid-rise rather than low rise - they are more flattering for "between sizes" ladies, imo Couldn't entertain the idea of a belt on a pair of low-rise jeans. Too uncomfortable.

Tighter, because they loosen up with wear.

depends on what look you are going for..too tight and they look bulgy, just right and they add a bt of pertness without going that far, too loose and then they look like 'casual' only jeans..rather than 'going out' ones.

my maternity jans are falling of me, so i'm going to say slightly too tight, then let the wear make them right.

Depends what you are doing .....I have two different sizes loser ones for slopping about at home in and a tighter smaller size for going out.

I'm a betweenie sizer too so both fit - but my at home jeans are better for scrabbling about on the floor with the kids.

looser not loser!
