curl-friendly hairdressers in North London?

Hi, hoping someone can help. I have very curly hair as per profile pic. Have been doing CG for about three months which has been having quite good effect on my horribly dry, frizzy hair but it now needs cutting.

Sadly the woman who used to cut mine has left London so I now need to find another cutter who understands curls - preferably north London and preferably not too expensive - though could stretch up to £100 if absolutely necessary ...

Any recommendations, please pass them along please before I start looking (more) like the wild woman of Wonga.

Hi there,
I have mad wavy hair (now cut short) and have had mine cut for years by Bryn Wilkins -used to work for Trevor Sorbie and Brooks & Brooks; now has his own salon called Easton Regal in Clerkenwell (84 Clerkenwell Road; www.eastonregal.com). He is the only person in the world allowed to cut my hair, and he has a strong following among curly-haired ladies (I have at least three curly ex-colleagues or acquaintances who would never go to anyone else). All of us have been using him for at least 10 years.
Salon's number is 020 7250 1441. Tends to cost around £70ish, but best check first.
Tell him Claire sent you! He is a wonderful, wonderful man and works miracles.
Hope this helps!

Hello CrapSuzette,

thank you for this recommendation, despite me not being the one who asked for it. my hairdresser keeps missing the point with my curly mop and I spend my life looking like crystal tips. On the strength of your recommendation I've booked an appointment with Bryn. Will say Claire sent me.

Thanks CS for the recommendation - Kneedeep - let us know what you think ok - only other one I've been recommended (and that had a few critics) was Unruly in Portobello Road and not sure I can face traipsing there for a haircut (hate having my hair cut at the best of times).

i am lurking on this thread, have got scared about having my hair cut since doing cg... clerkenwell v close to me, hooray. on the cg thread, someone recommended greta at idol hair in victoria park. apparently she has curly hair herself which is reassuring.

hoxtonchick · 25/03/2010 11:58

gulp, nothing like action, have booked an appointment for monday morning with bryn . £75. will update...

kdk · 25/03/2010 22:06

Good on you hc, let us know how it went (could post pics if very brave!)

i could.... will see how it looks. it is v close to where we live, on my bus route to work, i like staying local!

hoxtonchick · 29/03/2010 17:50

a great haircut . bryn was v nice & has cut it really well, a sort of graduated bob. need to see what it looks like when i've put all my stuff on, but he dried it well with a diffuser (a rarity). i kind of fudged around who had recommended him as i didn't want to say a random person on the internet . nice salon too.

What a weird coincidence that this thread should have been started so recently. I came on to ask for recommendations for a curl-friendly hairdresser in Oxford, having just had my hair utterly butchered earlier today, but I think I'm just going to book an appointment either with Bryn or with Michael Price at Unruly in about 8 weeks time. I am so fed up of people NOT LISTENING when I tell them what my hair is like and what I want/need. I wish they'd just say "sorry, I don't know how to work with curly hair," instead of hacking away at it ineptly. Gah.
