Please ladies - what shoes to wear with wide-leg black trousers?

I am inordinately fond of my wide-leg black trousers for work, but my shoes never look quite right.

I have a few pairs of shoe-boots, but they look a bit odd, and I also have some wedge boots, but they look too clumpy. Ballet pumps look nice, but I was rather hoping for some extra height.

Any ideas?

nice classy / classic courts... maybe patent?
not necessarily black tho, I love these!

and these!

I also got some absolutely gorgeous (and bargainous) black and white ones for new look which I wear with wide leg black trousers too, mid heel - cos I'm on my feet most of the day.

Think you'll be better with flats-heels plus widelegs are a bit swishy-Flamenco dancer for me.

Could you do chunky Alexa-Chung-style loafers, or maybe some manly brogues, do you think?

Last time I attempted heels with (rather voluminous) widelegs my heel got caught in the fabric and I fell flat on my face. Had just managed to stand up and regain composure when it happened again and down I went.

I'd stick with the ballet pumps.

Thank you

Love the cautionary tale, Barbarelle!

Some lovely shoes linked, and I shall go and try them on ASAP.

I love the idea of brogues, but have a fear of looking butch. Do you need to be terribly feminine to pull them off?
