Found the perfect tankini for me at long long last!

It is this top in berry red with these shorty bottoms, also in berry red. I am so glad the hunt for me is finally over. For months I've been trapsing around the shops looking and trying on tankinis to no avail. Then I ordered one off ebay which was awful and went back, then got one from debenhams which had no support so I returned it also and today my new one arrived...perfect....hooray! I post this for the benefit of others who may be struggling to find nice swimwear because, like me, they may be big norked so need a lot bit of support. I found that all the tankinis out there are for slim, small-chested women, or they had an older type person pattern on them, or black which is no good in the sun for me. I love love love this Lands End one cos the top can be strapless (to go under my beachdress and so I don't get strapmarks) or easily attach straps for more support for walking/swimming. The bottoms for once actually cover my generous bum and the side ties on the top can adjust the length of the top, the full tum is covered, no anxious pulling at it to keep it down. It was £££ but worth it, it should last for ages. Oh, and the top is reduced at the mo....added bonus!
Sorry if that sounds OTT, no I don't work for LE, nor do I have shares in them but just so delighted to find this....BRING ON THE SUMMER HOLIDAYS!

Am I the only one on here with a big bum and big chest then?

How long can you make the legs (IYSWIM)?

(speaking as one who finds the prospect of some sort of head to toe swimming garment increasingly attractive )

CMOTdibbler · 19/03/2010 20:27

I have 3 Lands End tankinis, and love them. They last amazingly well too, so worth the extra dosh. I do usually wait to see what I can get in the sale

peggotty · 19/03/2010 20:27

Like the top! It is a lot of money for swimwear ime even reduced, but i am tempted, especially since you say the top is quite long. How good is the bust support?

Pinkmarshmallow · 19/03/2010 20:28

maybe i didn't word it clearly? the top length can be adjusted but not really the leg length, although there are adjustble cord ties on it too, not sure why though.

ps I am an apple shape, do you reckon the patterned top would just draw attention to my top-heavy appearance?

BariatricObama · 19/03/2010 20:29

have heard great things about landsend swimwear. i might invest if i lose enough weight

Pinkmarshmallow · 19/03/2010 20:34

x-posted...that's good to hear they last long, CMOT.
Peggotty, the bust support is the best I have felt in any swimsuit I've ever had or tried on in the past. It's underwired and has soft cup (great for when there's a "nip in the air" as DH calls it )!! Support is best obviously when the straps are attached, but still good when strapless.
I have the cord ties on the top pulled tight, which creates a ripple effect across the tummy, disguising my rolls of fat

Sounds like just what I need. It's about the same price as Bravissimo or Figleaves where i've been aimlessly searching. Thanks

CMOTdibbler · 19/03/2010 21:26

If you want more leg coverage, they do swim minis (skirt and bottoms in one), and swim shorts.

I quite like that they have all different pieces in the same colours so you can mix and match according to situation

nigglewiggle · 14/04/2010 12:45

Pink - I just wanted to say a huge thank you. I ordered the top in the same colour as you and some plain red bottoms. I've just tried it on and it does me a lot of favours. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, but at least I will feel able to emerge from under my towel .

I also used a voucher code and got a further £10 off and free delivery (if anyone wants to try the code, let me know and I'll dig it out and post it up).

Thanks again.

mangoandlime · 14/04/2010 12:54

nigglewiggle, I would be very interested in your discount code, if you still have it please!

Whoamireally · 14/04/2010 12:57

Can I ask what this is like over your belly? Having quite a large one, am tending to find that most tankini tops I try on just roll up over my belly, leaving it hanging out between the top and the bottoms like sausagemeat trapped in a vice....

nigglewiggle · 14/04/2010 13:08

It is a printed Gift Voucher code from Country Homes and Interiors magazine, so I hope it works more than once.

It is £10 off plus free delivery and returns with your first order over £40.

You need to enter it into the voucher code box, rather than the discount code box.

76898148-FDFR

It doesn't show the discount until your order arrives, so you might be better ringing your order through to check that you get the discount.

Hope it works .

nigglewiggle · 14/04/2010 13:10

That's what's great about it, it is really long. I have a long back and a belly, so I always have the same trouble. This one comes about 6 inches down my thighs, then you can rouche it up to whatever length you want.

Whoamireally · 14/04/2010 13:12

Oh good - that sounds brilliant! Thanks

Pinkmarshmallow · 14/04/2010 13:13

That's great nigglewiggle, glad you're pleased with it too.
whoamireally, the top is really long, so you shouldn't have the same problem with it as other takinis...I know exactly what you mean btw, your description made me laugh . my belly is a bit big too. This is a really forgiving tankini top....go for it!

x-post, I'm too slow!

mangoandlime · 14/04/2010 13:22

Thanks nigglewiggle, I'll give it a try.

mangoandlime · 14/04/2010 13:36

Ooh, ohh, just ordered the top in berry, the code didn't work, as you though NW, because it had already been redeemed. (I was going to go for a more expensive one to be eligible) but I'm more than happy with this one, I got free delivery. just wondering what colour bottoms to go with now...

mangoandlime · 14/04/2010 13:54

And a MAJOR bonus is that I've ordered a size 8, which is brill since I haven't been that size for around ten years.

(US sizing, in't it great!)

mangoandlime · 17/04/2010 08:23

Mine was delivered yesterday and I'm undecided. I think it's quite 'maternity-ish' so it may be going back, sadly.
