What to wear to wedding in Florence in May?

BusyMummy78 · 18/03/2010 13:02

We're off to Florence for a wedding in mid-May. My DH is best man, but any ideas what I could wear? I'm 31, size 8 pear-shape, 5'1".

Undecided whether to buy new outfit or try and wear something I already have (DH would favour latter option!).

Thanks.

Italians getting married?

If so, ime you cannot be too overdressed for Italian wedding which is a Good Thing i feel.

Sazisi · 18/03/2010 13:06

Ah, Florence, lucky you!

Actually I'm not sure I'm talking to you because your'e only 31 and only a size 8

I think you should go for a floaty slip of chiffon in a fashionable nude shade

I can't offer any style advice really (although I think a floaty number is a chic idea as it will be nice and cool) but wanted to say how rude of you to show off about being invited to a wedding in Florence in May

BariatricObama · 18/03/2010 13:08

too jealous to offer advice! but yes bling it up

If you have a cool floaty dress, can you make it feel like a new outfit by buying new shoes and a bag and wrap to go with it?
DH will be happy you're recycling clothes, you will be happy to have a chance to go and buy something new!

Bride & Groom not Italian - they are friends who just wanted a small wedding and liked Florence.

Do you think a dress is better than skirt & top combo?

Definitely a dress - less hassle and just looks more put together.

Do you have something suitable? If not whats your budget?

overmydeadbody · 18/03/2010 13:17

How about the Anthropologie wind catcher dress in my thread? It is lovely and if I can't waer it, maybe you could!

Sazisi · 18/03/2010 13:20

I'm thinkiong something like this - but perhaps something with less structure, more float..

BusyMummy78 · 18/03/2010 13:27

Sazisi - like that dress but think you're right; I need something less structured.

overmydeadbody - I quite like the Anthropologie Drifting by dress.

Budget is £150.

How are you with halters?

Rosa · 18/03/2010 13:35

If its a church wedding don't forget to cover your shoulders even if its just for the ceremony.

Sazisi · 18/03/2010 14:35

This is very pretty I think

BusyMummy78 · 18/03/2010 21:22

Love the suggestions.

Thank you.
