I need to find some dark grey or black shoes, which are formal but a bit funky

and I can't find any!

I need something that doesn't look like horrible work shoes, maybe has a low to medium heel or wedge...not too fancy.

Wearing with a dark grey knee length frock, with black bits (grey and black= not great, but it's the only thing I've got, needs to be those colours)

Can anyone suggest anything? Have tried Clarks and they have nothing much, ideas welcome - thanks

i'm not a funky person, but are these?

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 12:49

Thankyou,
I quite like those, but thinking of kind of softer, rounder lines...iygwim? Like this kind of thing I suppose, but a bit more formal?

Has to be grey or black though - would not get away with sparkly

These?

or

These?

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 17:58

Love the second ones. Do you know, I have been on that blooming site all afternoon and ended up buying NO SHOES, but a pair of fly mol boots for half price, and some kipling luggage

I am bad.

I nearly bought these but the back view is a bit funny.

Lol at karma's shoes

How about these then? Will depend on your budget I suppose.

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 18:02

IN fact am not certain it's possible to do funky and sombre. Is it?

NorkilyChallenged · 17/03/2010 18:03

Bit boring?

Also pricey

I'll stop now

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 18:13

Oh thankyou! I'm not sure about those but will check out the website.

I am open to new websites. Seem to only use the same few over and over again!

Keep cross posting with you! I cannot keep up

Too high?

tethersend · 17/03/2010 19:00

nice

tethersend · 17/03/2010 19:05

wedge

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 19:07

hmm not too high, but a bit ££ really for me.

I think I ought to list my further criteria at this juncture, which are mainly around the fact I find it physically impossible to buy and item which is not at least reduced slightly.

even if it is 50p off, that will swing it. Full price and I am unable to click on add to basket.

I like some of the scholl shoes actually.
my mum always wore a pair and clickety clacked all round the house

Ooh I love the last ones, but I rpefer them in the gold! I am just going to end up buying the wrong shoes again aren't I.

i think the issue is I don't really LIKE black. Grey is easier to reconcile but black shoes make me think of school.

Thankyou both so much for all your help by the way. It's really good of you and there are loads of shops I hadn't considered.

also nice

pointydog · 17/03/2010 19:14

Hmm, how annoying. I bought a pair of shoes in next the other week that are the same sty;e as these but the main colour is black suede with grey suede contrast and a small purple patent trim.

The look nice on and are surprisingly comfy. I have been wearing them to work and they haven't rubbed once. Miracle

pointydog · 17/03/2010 19:14

I know next still do them but I cannot see them on the website.

I bought them to go with a grey skirt.

pointydog · 17/03/2010 19:16

another similar one

sausagepastie · 17/03/2010 19:20

Oh Pointy I like those red ones.

I might have a look in Next in town, then - I never go in there normally as there is a lady at the front with a clipboard, and she is totally orange. She just gives me the look and I scarper.

Thankyou...we are closing in on the right ones, I can feel it.

pointydog · 17/03/2010 19:30

lol

NorkilyChallenged · 17/03/2010 19:34

Well if you don't like black shoes then you're not going to find any you really are happy with are you?

Start looking for grey.

Or is there a reason you can't wear a colour? If the skirt is grey/black, what colour top are you wearing? You could match shoes to colour of top or, if whole outfit is grey/black then use shoes as a colour "accent" (using naff words there, I apologise)

Basically I'm giving you an excuse to buy non-black shoes

sausagepastie · 19/03/2010 07:34

Thankyou NC it is appreciated

not sure about the bright colours thing, sounds much nicer but when I said sombre I meant sombre. Unfortunately.

You are right...it's an impossible quest. I did find some nice-ish Carvela grey boots but it's more of a sandal or shoe type of frock, really.

I think i will give up for the time being, and see if something turns up by itself.

Thankyou very much for your help, everyone.
