does it go on the dark circles under/over/instead of foundation?

The Lancome lady put highlighter on under my foundation.

Touche Eclat gives me scary eye excema, so I put it on top of foundation, or only on my cheekbones or under eyebrows.

For eyes, nothing beats Bobbi Brown Eye Brightener-goes under eyes and on lids. It's amazing but would not have looked at it twice before make up woman demo'ed it on me.

pollywollydoodle · 17/03/2010 13:23

thank you both....moondog, i need to use this one up first!

It goes on the under eye area and the inner corner of your eyes (either side of the very top of your nose).
Whether before or after foundation is up to you.
I do foundation first because any concealer, TE etc that I've applied would get rubbed off in applying the foundation. Also because you might think you need loads of concealer or whatever when looking at bare skin but once your foundation is on you'll only notice the blemishes that really need extra cover.

pollywollydoodle · 18/03/2010 11:38

well, have now tried it out and for me, instead of foundation works ok for daytime and over foundation for eve...thanks!

I was told to put it on after your foundation as then your dark circles will then be covered a bit by the foundation and you only need a touch of concealer to finish off and brighten the under eye area. Then you don't end up with it looking too heavy.

I love touch eclat, but think after reading this I might give the Bobbi brown stuff a bash!!

nikki1978 · 18/03/2010 15:50

That's weird crankytwanky I got exactly the same thing - a horrible red sore flaky patch under one of my eyes. My friend got the same thing - bit worrying really! I am not allergic to anything and never have skin issues, it only happens with this.

mrsjuan · 18/03/2010 15:54

Another good place to put it is either side round the bottom of your nose (not underneath) if that makes sense. Especially good if you have a Concorde nose like me.

LoveTheCarbs · 18/03/2010 16:54

Me too, nikki1978 and CrankyTwanky. Do you use anything else instead?

I just try and limit my use of it for when I am going out and if I know photos are going to be taken. I was going to try the Laura Mercier concealer to see if that was any good and didn't give me the contact dermatitis.

mymumsweats · 18/03/2010 17:48

Me too Nikki and Cranky. I emailed them and they said it was because my tube was too old and it was only meant to last three months or something ridiculous.

They sent me a new one and that's actually been fine...

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 18/03/2010 17:53

I also got the red dry patch under my eyes when using TE, stopped using it and it went.

LoveTheCarbs · 18/03/2010 18:24

That's interesting, mymumsweats, as it never caused problems initially. But my tube is quite old, definitely a lot older than 3 months..

butadream · 18/03/2010 18:26

I prefer the Body Shop equivalent product

mymumsweats · 18/03/2010 19:21

Yeh I think mine was about two years old.

lillybloom · 18/03/2010 20:40

I love touch eclat and don't go out without it. I put it on after foundation under my eyes.

lillybloom · 18/03/2010 20:42

I was at a make up party once and bought a similar one. I can't remember the name now but it came in a silver tube and was every bit as good.

sunshineonarainyday · 18/03/2010 20:51

Aah, so that's what the dry, flaky patch was under one of my eyes recently. I had used touche eclat but hadn't thought that's what had caused it. Mine is also quite old...

I don't use it very often - will now chuck it out and give the Bobbi Brown one a go!
