Converse - will I regret these?

Want a pair of Converse low All Stars. Am thinking grey as will go with most of my wardobe (also grey...) but my magpie tendencies are drawing me towards these

How daft will they look? Am 34 if relevant.

Also have seen a pair with a more subtle metallic sheen to them, would that be a good compromise if sequins a no-no?

They're LOVELY! Go for it. I'd wear them and I'm knocking 40.

GeorgiesGirl · 16/03/2010 09:30

(or is that enough to put you off!?)

HellBent · 16/03/2010 09:34

I'd wear them and I'm 27. I only wear my converse with boy fit jeans so you can't really see too much of the shoe. I would think they'd be too sparkly for skinny jeans.

My TK MAXX has loads of pairs in just now with funky patterns if you were looking for something a bit different

Baileysismyfriend · 16/03/2010 09:38

I bought these the other day, just waiting for them to be delivered!

Im hoping I won't look a saddo trying to look young - am 30 this year. Mine are navy blue.

Baileysismyfriend · 16/03/2010 09:39

Sorry just realised yours were sparkly, mine arent, but get them they look fab!

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 09:46

Really? Wow. Was expecting to get roundly handbagged for excessive shininess

Am sooooo tempted. Would be wearing them with skirts and skinnies as well as boyfriend jeans tho, does that matter?Saw the patterned ones in TK Maxx t'other day - NOT ONE PAIR in my size. Was distraught.

They're great! Quick quick credit card out before they're all gone

NoahAndTheWhale · 16/03/2010 09:52

I am 34 and have some Converse . Mine are pink with flowers on.

moodlum · 16/03/2010 10:01

I just bought these and I'm... 35 And I have a pair of flowery superdry ones, so I think you should get them. They do come up huge though, converse, so I always size down one size.

Mirrorball · 16/03/2010 10:03

They are lovely, I WISH they had them in a size 5.... They're FAB, bargain... go for it. I'm 31 and would love a pair.

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 10:03

Ah. If I scale down a size I can't get them.

Actually I tried on two pairs yday, one 6 and one 7, and the 6 were just that little bit tight lengthways. Do they stretch?

Another 34-year-old Converse wearer here.

Good price as well Stillfrazzled.

JackSpratt · 16/03/2010 10:09

They're being billed as mens shoes

Do men really wear (Ashley Cole aside) sequins?

Apart from that they're fab and 34 is NOT old.

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 10:16

I wondered about that myself, Jack. Deary deary me.

Right, have had to give up on sequins (sniff sniff wibble) since not my size.

What about these, which are?

OP posts:
Cobblers · 16/03/2010 10:19

I like them (40) but would have talked myself out of them as they are on sale.

"they must be on sale because no one will buy them."

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 10:22

Cobblers, I probably need more of your cynicism but I only own about four items of clothing that aren't either Gap discount day/sale rails...

OP posts:
roary · 16/03/2010 11:03

I own these. And get SO many compliments on them. And watch my feet sparkle in the sun.

chopstheduck · 16/03/2010 12:46

I doubt many men would buy them - prob why they are on sale!

I have ginourmous feet and got some lovely hot pink mens ones really cheap. I think conversea re great, but defo wont wear them with anything other than jeans that will cover a good portion of the shoe. (I'm 31)

Rockbird · 16/03/2010 12:56

I've just bought these and I'm 38. Love 'em.

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 13:39

Love the Blondie ones!

OK, plot thickens. I had a look in TK Maxx and they had a couple of pairs in my size.

The ones I bought look like this, but a bit more 'distressed' round the edges, and have silver and gold paisley designs embroidered on them.

I think they're really pretty, I do like a laceless sneaker and they were only £20 - don't know whether to keep em or go for the more versatile silver?

OP posts:
OllieWollieWoo · 16/03/2010 15:35

These are silver ones too - and a bargain - if you have biggish feet! Think I like your sequin ones better tho stillfrazzled - love to do the school run in them!
here

stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 15:48

I did consider those!

Am still torn between them and the paisley design ones, what do you think?

OP posts:
stillfrazzled · 16/03/2010 17:05

Anyone? I am still paralysed with indecision...

OP posts:
HellBent · 16/03/2010 20:43

Just checking in to see if you have made a decision yet? GET THEM!

MarionCole · 16/03/2010 20:48

I'm 38 and have 3 pairs.
