Can I fix the handles on my handbag?

I have a lovely Furla work bag which I have had for years.

The handles have gone all funny. The leather coating on them has rubbed away so now the handles themselves are all sticky and discoloured.

Is there any way I can get them recoated, or just new handles?

Or is it knackered?

You could try a saddler? I have had the leather handles replaced on some of my much loved bags, took to my local saddler and she copied the original handles and dyed the new ones to match - ta da!

It may depend on how the handles are attatched to the body of the bag ... but worth asking.

sorry, completely forgotten i'd posted this

That's a good idea - there must be a decent saddler round here.

Thanks
