Advice please on stockings and hold ups to a clueless tights wearer

So I am wanting to buy some stockings or hold ups rather than my usual tights and wondered if seasoned stockings wearers could advise me please as I am clueless.

If I wore hold ups would I be worried all day about them falling down? If not, is that because they are really tight on the top of your legs and therefore unflattering?

If I am buying stockings I need advice on suspender belts as have never bought one before.

And maybe brands/where you buy from/which makes are rubbish, etc.
I promise I am a regular not some hairy handed trucker looking for kicks.

Good holdups don't fall down - you want ones with wide tops, and so more grippy stuff though. And don't use any body lotion on your legs before wearing them.

Suspender belts - the ones from StockingsHQ are def the best imo - your stockings won't budge all day.

My favourite brands - Levante, Falke (though expensive), and Transparenze. But I look for ones that do a tall size - generally sized stockings, and especially holdups are much better

I wear pretty polly italia hold ups (when the rare occasion arises!). Not expensive, and a lovely natural colour, and no problem about them falling down.

Thanks for those recommendations, will look into them. I had a look last time I was in town centre but ended up just stood there looking clueless!

Is stockingsHQ a website? Will go google ...

You can also go to www.mytights.co.uk where they have a great selection. I'd say, don't pay too much, and make sure the band at the top is wide.

I've always has success with Boots own brand hold ups. But get tall unless you want them just over your knees!

So what's your usual posting name then?
What's so embarassing about tights & stockings that you had to change your name?

Looks like you've suckered 3 ladies so far - hope you're enjoying your wank.

catinthehat2: I don't want people on MN who know me in RL to know the ins and outs of my laungerie shopping habits, nothing more sinister than that! I am very private about underwear and hosiery, just how I have been brought up I guess as I talk openly about everything else on here.

It's not like I am asking how they feel on your skin or what you get up to in them - I am asking about fitting and brands and other boring stuff!

Thank you to all the posters who gave me advice, I got called away to DS who wouldn't settle so will have to check links/google/etc in the morning but I appreciate you posting to help me.

I have used M * S - Lace top hold ups for years - they are really comfy, stay up all day and have a resistance to ladders to.
I always buy extra large instead of anything else because I like them higher up the leg.
Good luck.
