HELP!!! Nurses fancy dress [hmm]

One of my work colleagues is leaving to train to be a nurse and a bright spark in the office has suggested that we all go out on her leaving do dressed as nurses. I am just over 40 and a size 12/14 and am not prepared to go out and about looking like I should be stood on a street corner touting for business! How do I pull this off without looking too tarty?

How about this Not a nurse but not tacky and medically related. Or see the page before this one for nurses ones.

Or (b), just wear what you'd normally wear for a night out and then just wear a nurses hat and short cape to 'make the effort'.

god what a shit idea

I would tell the bright spark where to shove her idea

Thanks for that website. Its just helped me with a outfit I have to get for a 70's hen night. I hate dressing up!!!!

If you could find something like this in time in the UK online I'd be so impressed.

And quite inclined to wear it on a regular basis- its quite prim but beautiful. Can't beat vintage tailoring.

Thanks for all your ideas! Am loving the vintage look but have looked around the internet and cant find anything like it.
The other website is good and have decided to go for an apron and hat set (also comes with a garter but wont need that!) at £3.79 which I will wear over my white linen trousers and shirt. At least I will have made a bit of an effort even though I hate dressing up and I agree with ggirl - its a shit idea but hey-ho, a couple of glasses of wine and it wont seem that bad! Hopefully
