Should a short-arse buy this?

I have a garden party-type thingy in May and have found a shift, the pattern of which I love

here

I want to wear it with

this cardi

or

this cardi

tan belt, KG shoes.

Anyhoo, I'm only 5 ft 4..if I have it taken up, do you think the "lower bust dart" will simply accommodate my 34E bust, or will I look like I'm dressing up in Ma's clothes.

5ft4-blimey, you´ve got four inches on me, so not a short arse at all!

It´s a lovely dress & I like the pink cardi.

I assume you can´t find anything similar from a "non tall" shop?

Do you know how long the dress is?
It might not need taking up.

mrsflux · 12/03/2010 09:29

i'm 5foot 2 and wouldn't even dream of looking in tall shops/ sections.
i have enough trouble with regular sizes sometimes.

you could always buy and return if the bust/ body line is no good. it could look funny around the hips if your torso isn't in long tall proportions iyswim.

if they do free returns may be worth a try

bishboschone · 13/03/2010 14:35

I am 5 ft and often buy tall top so i would consider it. What do lts call tall. Is it 5ft 9. If so should be okay I would think. depends how long your torso is.

brimfull · 13/03/2010 14:39

I would think it'll be cut too large for your upper body unless you have long torso

I also think the cardi is too much for that dress with the applique flower and I wouldn't wear belt with it either..but you weren't asking about that so I'll shut up now

rimmer08 · 13/03/2010 15:34

you could but IMO the dress is a bit horrid sorry

Moneyspider · 13/03/2010 15:50

gg- no, everything's short, but thought perhaps mass of norks would fill unused space...

rimmer, I am oddly drawn to all things that might appear in a lilt advert or club tropicana video.

OP posts:
brimfull · 13/03/2010 16:52

this is nice
and v neck more suited for norkage

FalafelAtYourFeet · 13/03/2010 16:56

Sorry, I don't think that neckline is suited to a 34E bust. Speaking as someone else who is large of nork.

thesouthsbelle · 13/03/2010 16:59

agree with fal - I like v necks tbh - esp deep v's but hey..

FalafelAtYourFeet · 13/03/2010 17:01

how about this, more flattering shape?

FalafelAtYourFeet · 13/03/2010 17:03

or I like this

Both of those petites too which IMO you need.

FalafelAtYourFeet · 13/03/2010 17:08

another floral one available in petite

Moneyspider · 13/03/2010 19:10

GG, like the shape of the East, but want a more Liberty-esque pattern.

Fal, of course I should have a v-neck. Those are OK, but they look like they're from Next.

Tried on dress in LTS this afternoon. Looked shite.

OP posts:
brimfull · 13/03/2010 20:15

not liberty-esque will keep trying

brimfull · 13/03/2010 20:19

nice

brimfull · 13/03/2010 20:31

lovely

brimfull · 13/03/2010 20:34

i am on a roll -an actual liberty print

wubblybubbly · 13/03/2010 20:39

Hmm, not sure exactly what kind of thing you're looking for, length, colours, etc, but have you had a look at Debenhams? They've got some lovely frocks suitable for garden party stylee 'do's'.

This one jade green or this one maybe black & white. Not sure on your taste really, but they've got some nice stuff.

Moneyspider · 14/03/2010 08:55

Naughty GG, can't afford that! Love the Lipsy v. much though- have ordered.

mrspink27 · 14/03/2010 10:11

I love the Liberty dress... if only I had somewhere to wear it... or the money to buy it.

brimfull · 14/03/2010 10:23

ooh good
hope it's nice
