Flattering swimwear needed please!

I think I'm after a 2 piece tankini type swimsuit, preferably with short-type bottoms so that I can easy whip it on/off at the poolside while we're on holiday (under a towel of course!)

What is most flattering for a size 12 with a bit of a saggy tummy and small norks (36b) pale skinned person (that's me!)?

Ooh that's me too!

I have no idea, will watch replies with interest.

Sago · 12/03/2010 08:50

That is me too - though my norks are even smaller!
I have been looking at the swimwear in NEXT. They have a lot of tankinis with short-type bottoms. Some are more sporty than others...not sure about quality etc.
I´ve not bought anything yet though and have no idea what suits but maybe someone else will come along and help on that one?

Thats me too! I really need a new one. Have just binned a great accessorise 2 piece that was well lined so hid some of the lumpy bits. I need to go look what they've got in this season. I found last year that next ones were a bit brief round the back so a bit too much hung out (yuk, sorry!).

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 12/03/2010 21:06

Ok, so there's 4 of us looking.

Anyone with any suggestions to help us out?!

I think one pieces are more flattering than tankinis - what about a halterneck?

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 12/03/2010 21:35

Someone on another s&b thread linked to some Seaspray ones at figleaves - you'll have to search for them as my pc won't do direct links. I especially like the spotty ones.

I agree that full cozzies are more flattering - in fact I think tankinis are veering into frumpsville.

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2010 21:36

Have a looke at Land's End.

noahpinion · 12/03/2010 21:39

like this sort of thing

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 12/03/2010 21:55

Thanks you for those links.

I think I may have just found out why I always struggle to find the right kind of thing - my budget is too small!

I had in mind to spend about £30. The nicest ones that I have seen on those links easily cost upwards of double that!!!

Time for a rethink!

primark have a great range of swimwear. they have a black set they do every year which has about 5 different tops and bottoms mix and match. All with support and tummy panels. worth a look. They also do nice sarongs and beach dresses etc.

bishboschone · 13/03/2010 13:50

btw I am short muscly hourglass size 8 ish.and I look hideous in a swimsuit. Much better in a tankini.I find the shorts are much easier to wear without worrying about bits hanging out

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 14/03/2010 12:40

Right, I feel a trip to Cardiff coming on to their massive Primark!

Thank you bishboschone.

I like shorts. I think tankinis are a pain (you always see people pulling them down endlessly) but the shorts are just what I want for my bottom half.

MumGoneCrazy · 14/03/2010 14:34

I hate shopping in primark in cardiff, its also so packed and i can never move around the shop with the buggy, plus its really easy to lose a 3yr old in there (not that i tried to lose her on purpose )

I'll have to pop in primark and have a look as DP wants to take the DC swimming in 2 weeks and i havent been swimming in 3yrs and dont fit in my old swimsuit

MumGoneCrazy · 14/03/2010 14:34

Always not also....why did i type that?

MadameCastafiore · 14/03/2010 18:50

Speedo do some amazing hold you in swim suits.

I would steer clear of tankinis - I bought some after having DS and was super surprised at the lard arse photos of me in them - I look about half the size in a decent fitting all in one.

duckyfuzz · 16/03/2010 19:11

figleaves now have some reductions on swimwear I think this could be a miracle worker haven't explored the rest yet

NorkilyChallenged · 17/03/2010 17:13

But it's called "Doreen"

(am I the only person who can be put off my garment names?)

duckyfuzz · 17/03/2010 20:33

I guess that's why its in the sale
