putting dye on bleached hair

My hair is very blonde (bleached) and want to change colour without going to salon. Has anyone used a home dye on bleached hair, dont want to go to dark, just want to get away from the blonde look. Ive just come out of hosp and unable to go out for weeks so feeling fed up and my hair looks a mess, dark roots!!! I know a lot of people will advise not to do it but if there is anyone that has done it, would be interested to know what make and colour you used.

Thanks

You risk making a big mistake- hair colour applied on top of bleach can give really bad results if done at home. It's no good asking for recommendations as everyone's hair is different- texture, porousness, etc etc.

Could you find a mobile hairdresser to come to you?

I would re-bleach it, then you can decide about dyeing later on when you can afford a pricey trip to the salon

Dye on bleach will go greeny-grey unfortunately, unless you are super super experienced

I dyed my own hair back to it's natural colour (mid-brown) from bleach blond many years ago. I used a permanent brown dye over the blond and it ended up brown with a nasty green tinge. A semi-permanent deep red over the top sorted it out.

It's a big risk to try and do it yourself though.

I've done this more than once, with different dyes and would only advise giving this a try if you're happy to either;
(a) re-bleach it, or
(b) throw a really dark colour on top
if and/or when it goes wrong.
