Do you tip at the hairdressers?

Just not sure if it's still the done thing?
And if so how much?
Is it bad if you don't? Will be I black listed, in future only to get inconvenient appointment times and trainee hairdressers?

I tip a couple of quid to the stylist plus £1 for the junior who washes my hair.

Don't think its bad if you dont though.

littledawley · 11/03/2010 10:01

I normally give £5 to the stylist and £2 to the junior.

duckyfuzz · 11/03/2010 10:02

I don't, it costs me £44 a go as it is, which I am happy to pay as I like the stylist, but if I tip its nearer £50

Cobblers · 11/03/2010 10:03

I only go every three months for a trim and a colour and I give £10.

Monadami · 11/03/2010 11:13

Yes, but only 5% now as each visit costs me £100.

BusyMummy78 · 11/03/2010 12:40

Yes, but the amount depends on what I've had done. If I've just had a cut & finish then I only tip £3 but if I've had highlights and cut & finish then I tip £5.

GordianKnot · 11/03/2010 12:41

FritziGreenEyes · 11/03/2010 18:40

motherbeyond · 11/03/2010 18:46

fucking hell!£10?!! they must think im a right tight arse then!..i give a few quid to the stylist..it costs a fortune as it is
crispy you're not allowed to refer to it as a cut and blow anymore you know!they laughed at me in my salon when i said it and repeated it in a very scouse accent...cheeky bints! (i have not got a very scouse accent)

deliciousdevilwoman · 12/03/2010 10:24

I tip the stylist between £5-10 dependent on what I have had done, and a couple of quid to the junior who washes my hair.

crispycake · 12/03/2010 19:11

motherbeyond i originally come from up north and we always called it a cut and finsih up there, but i live in london now and go to toni and guy and they always call it a cut a blow.
when i first rang up last year i asked for a cut and finish and they corrected me.

motherbeyond · 13/03/2010 12:44

Zembo · 13/03/2010 12:51
