What colour shoes to wear with a grass green dress?

Hi, I bought a grass green wool Boden dress to wear for my daughters Christening.. but what colour shoes /tights do I wear? Having green shoes or tights would make me feel a bit leprichan-ish (how do you spell that??)A friend suggested grey, as I have grey heels already. Would that work?

I would go with metallic bronze, gold or silver. The grey might look lovely but I just don't think so but you can only try.

duckyfuzz · 11/03/2010 08:26

I agree with the mackem, was going to suggest brown or red too

bunnymother · 11/03/2010 08:27

I would go patent nude for formal and tan if dress was casual.

crazycrazy · 11/03/2010 08:38

I would go for nude, tan/brown or pewter

GetOrfMoiLand · 11/03/2010 08:54

Definitely nude shoes with nude tights. Nude shoes have magical leg lengthening properties as well so will look good.

fishie · 11/03/2010 09:14

navy?

misshardbroom · 11/03/2010 09:26

can we see the dress?

I had an apple green one for a wedding a couple of weeks ago with royal blue tights.

Miamla · 11/03/2010 09:27

i vote for fuschia pink shoes

NewLeaseofLife · 11/03/2010 09:28

Purple.

noddyholder · 11/03/2010 09:28

Navy

lucykate · 11/03/2010 09:33

red would look fab

DustinHoffman · 11/03/2010 09:35

Nude.

Tootiredforgodtyping · 11/03/2010 09:46

grey would be nice. I think nude would look a bit old fashioned and red would be too christmassy.

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 11/03/2010 10:50

I say navy or purple - maybe dark brown. The dress sounds quite vivid so a relatively dark, subdued colour would set it off nicely without competing for attention.
Depending on the dress, textured tights in a colour to match the shoes might look good.

ah lads, now you're just suggesting random colours!! OK, will have a look for nude shoes. the dress was from the boden winter sale, so it's not on the site. But it's a deep v neck light wool dress, v chic and flattering if I may say so myself! Just a hard colour, grass/apple green, to get to match. Itsnot like teal or emerald, which would be easier I think. hmm maybe navy WULD go. Must check. Thanks for the suggestions!

these Christian Louboutin nude shoes are what I had in mind. I think LK Bennett do a cheaper version...

cyteen · 11/03/2010 13:15

Muted silver or pale peachy pink.

EllieMental · 11/03/2010 13:17

brown looks beaut with grass green

DustinHoffman · 11/03/2010 13:18

Oh.....Dustin Hoffman has major shoe envy.

Tootsie 2 on the way....

I've been trying stuff on today and put on a green patterned dress with purple patent peep-toes (www.boden.co.uk/en-GB/Womens-Shoes/Heels/AR434/Womens-Bow-Peep-Toes.html?NavGroupID=134 these]] and it looked fab.

Elemental · 11/03/2010 14:18

Dark purple looks lovely with grass green, I think.

roary · 11/03/2010 14:26

Have that dress! Very non-boden.

I think it depends on how dressy you want to be. LOVE Tracey's idea of purple. Chocolate brown suprisingly good if you want to be less formal.
