Swimsuits for the large bust

AvengingGerbil · 08/03/2010 13:52

I am a 44F. I need a new swimsuit in order to be able to swim and possibly reduce said size.

I can't seem to find any swimsuits that will fit. They all seem to come with built-in cups/underwiring, and they only go up to C/D cup sizes.

Don't tell me to go to Bravissimo. They don't go over a 40 inch chest.

Any help gratefully received.

I'd bet my money on it that you are in the wrong size bra. I was wearing a 44 until I got measured properly and discovered I'm actually a 36!

AvengingGerbil · 08/03/2010 14:12

Nope, I'm actually that fat. I am a size 28. Measured under the boobs I am 44 inches. Around them I am 52.

Disbelief doesn't actually help. I guess the manufacturers don't believe someone this huge can possibly want to expose themselves in public either.

You'll probably find that just a normal swimsuit without cups is your best bet, just get a large size and make sure it has shoulder straps or is a racer back.

I'm a JJ cup and don't have a swimsuit with cups and it is fine, honestly.

Avenginggerbil- unfortunately you may have to do an internet search...there is massive lack of choice for larger ladies.

i have similar problems in that I amm HH, but very tall, but can 't find longer bodied swimsuits for someone with big norks- Bravissimo ride up my bum something terrible.
Good luck!

AvengingGerbil · 08/03/2010 14:17

Thanks ilove; any idea who might produce a cupless suit? Everyone I've seen helpfully includes those moulded things or wires, which are inevitably far too small. Or do you think they can just be ripped out?

I take your point AG, but measuring that way I come out at 38DD when actually Bravissmo fitted me as a 32G which gave me boobs that stayed north of my waist for the first time in years.

displayuntilbestbefore · 08/03/2010 14:22

Debenhams have started stocking Fantasie swimsuits - they should have something to fit you. If not then look on the Fantasie website to order direct. HTH.

(fwiw I don't think Bravissimo measure properly so never buy bras from them as they always measure me smaller than I actually am)

AvengingGerbil · 08/03/2010 14:27

Thanks everyone.
teasle I see that LandsEnd do a longer torso'd suit, if that is of any interest.

firstlady honestly, I really am a 44F. I've been measured in any number of different shops, and the only bras I own that actually fit are 44Fs. Smaller bands simply do not reach around me. You can't imagine how happy I would be to be a smaller size, but I'm not.

display I'll look into Debenhams/Fantasie right away. Thanks.

Any of these should be fine, they go up to a 24 and to be honest I always size down in swimwear...when in a 22 for clothes I had a size 16 swimsuit

PlumSykes · 08/03/2010 15:31

This is very plain, but would be good for proper swimming in, and is actually your right cup size.

PlumSykes · 08/03/2010 15:43

Also this in either red or blue in your cup size.

PlumSykes · 08/03/2010 15:46

Sorry, me again.

Just noticed Figleaves have free delivery (and returns are always free anyway) on until end of today, so might be worth ordering a couple from them to try on

Lio · 08/03/2010 15:47

Mine is from Bravissimo and it is great and makes me look thinner because my boobs aren't swallowed up into my waist/tummy. It is this one:

www.bravissimo.com/products/swimwear/swimsuits/panache/swimsuits/ps60-details.aspx?colour=black&ck=S %2boPMv1zFqM%3d

And comes into the 'expensive but worth it' category.

MaineGirl · 08/03/2010 15:56

have you looked on simply be? i got a joe browns tankini nad plenty of boob coverage without exposing my flabby midrif. i'm a 40h so feel your pain.
simply be also have a few other costumes that are good ones for actual swimming andf not messing about on hols.
also evans occassionally do plain black or sporty costumes with a bust support in ratheer than cups so are ok for larger boobs. i call it a shelf! its like an extra panel with tighter elastic at the bottom.

AvengingGerbil · 08/03/2010 16:51

Thank you so much everyone - I'd never heard of figleaves, but I shall be ordering right away!

I knew I could rely on you to send me in the right direction.
