Update on C des C leather jacket saga

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a leather jacket I bought last year from Comptoir des Cotonniers. It's a grey leather jacket and even though I had not worn it very much, I noticed that in lots of places the colour seemed to be rubbing off.

Anyhow, I finally went to one of their stores today with the jacket. The conversation went something like this:

Me: "I just wanted to ask you something about a leather jacket I bought last year"

C des C woman: "Oh? Last year?" (raising her eyebrows, as though suggesting that it was completely unreasonably to still own something purchased last year...)

Me: (taking the jacket out of my bag) "Yes, see how the colour seems to be rubbing off? Even though I have not worn it very much"

C des C woman: "Oh, I remember that jacket... Hmmm, I see what you mean..."

But then she said she would have to speak to the head office to ask if anyone else had complained about it. So she seemed to acknowledge that there was a problem with it, but at the same time seemed to suggest that if no one else had complained then it must just be my problem...

Anyway, she held onto the jacket and said that someone would ring me. Just thought I would post about this, as I know someone else said they were having the same issue. I think it was Veritee Brulee?

Hi feelingoptimistic! Thanks a million for posting this, I was thinking about you yesterday and was going to look for the old thread.

The sunshine has prompted me to root around in my wardrobe, and I tried on the jacket yesterday and thought "oo, that looks nice" but then I looked closer and the quilted parts on the shoulders have faded to a totally different colour to the rest of the jacket and it is not a good look.

Actually I bought the jacket a year ago on wednesday, the day after my birthday, it was my present to myself! it was pretty expensive and I expected to be wearing it for years.

I think I might ring the shop tomorrow and have a chat with them about it. I could always send it back so they could have a look at it. I'll let you know what they say

Hi VB - it would be good actually if you did ring them, because then they can't claim that I am the only person with this issue !!!

It is annoying, isn't it... Mine was an Easter present to myself !

I will let you know what happens. I really wonder what they will say, as this is the first time I have done this kind of thing. I think if you pay £289 for a leather jacket you should be able to expect that it will last longer than one season.

Do you mind my asking which shop you brought it back to? Then I can say my friend had the same problem and brought it back to branch X yesterday

Feelingoptimistic · 07/03/2010 22:27

Not at all VB - it was the store in Marylebone High Street.

Verity - just curious - did you end up ringing C des C?
I have of course not heard from them yet.

Sorry, I got as far as looking up their phone number, but dd sick and off school at the moment so kept getting distracted by her!
Thanks for the reminder will def call them tomorrow

Hi Feelingoptimistic! Sorry I haven't been back with update.

So, I called them last week, SA was nice but said obviously I'm going to have to post it back to them so they can have a look at it before she could make any judgement on it, then they might send it on to head office for their opinion.

Anyway I was out of action for the last week and have been thinking about it. I'm a bit concerned it will get 'lost' in the system if I do post it back as I won't be able to nip into the shop every few days to check on it's progress! I'm hoping to get to London in May for a day or two, so may bring it back in person then and see what they say.

Despite the really obvious and unattractive fading, I really love the damn thing !

Have you heard back from CdesC about your jacket?
