wedding outfit help

I have just brought a prom style dress to wear to a wedding. It has detachable strap and a low back so realistically I am going to wear a fairly plain shrug with it.

I have never worn a dress like this before so I am not sure how close fitting it should be. Ordered two different sizes.

Also need some comfortable but practical shoes to go with it. Dress is fairly multicoloured so most colours ok.

Don't want to spend a fortune. Any ideas.

Can you link to a picture of the dress maybe?
What length is the dress?

Sorry rubbish at links. Dress in knee length.

What I've found works for me is to wear heels to the event, and take a nice pair of flats in my bag (I had a great sparkly red pair of slip on plimsolls for while!) and then put them on late into the night, when it's time to go home, or when I am everyone else is too drunk to care about what you've got on your feet!

And for heels, I've found that (unfortunately) the more expensive they are, the better made and the easier they are on my feet.

Would that do? Or by comfortable and flat do you mean definitely flats?

Shoe-wise I'd recommend a wedge for comfort and a peep toe style. How about something like this? or this? x
