Trying to sort clothes to wear out tomorrow night.

I have been in size 10 jeans all week. My weight is dropping.

Yet I stood in front of a mirror in trousers and a corset and looked fat and horrible

wtf is wrong with me?? It is a corset fgs how the hell can I look fat in one!?!?!

TBH I think there are very few of us who would look good in trousers and a corset. Beyonce, possibly.

Flame · 05/03/2010 19:13

lol i've looked fine in it before.

I have no idea what to wear now. First night out properly since pregnancy and birth. I want to feel good about me (self esteem seriously lacking lately). No money for new clothes and need to yank in/hide baby belly.

A corset strikes me as summit for the boudoir rather than a night out . How about some stout control pants and less of the kinky business?

southeastastra · 05/03/2010 19:16

i've got a belly band, it's like a boob tube for your middle . i like it alot! hides my mr greedy profile

Flame · 05/03/2010 19:25

ok, forget the corset for a min the point was why don't I see myself right? I am in my smaller jeans etc no issue, my trousers I used to live in pre-ds are loose, so why do I see myself as a whale?

(On tomorrow night - mate is wearing dress, tights and boots - prob indie rather than classy...)

I had a belly band during preg - will dig it out. Have various magic knickers too, had forgotten them.

I know what you mean, it's a pita

If I have pmt all I see is blubber in the mirror and I am a size 8-10

I now try to avoid shopping with pmt!

Lucycat · 05/03/2010 19:30

Take my contact lenses out and I can't see a thing - not sure whether that is a good or bad thing tbh.

I certainly look better though when I'm all blurry

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 05/03/2010 19:30

Corsets rock! I wore a corset to the mn Xmas do, if any of you lot were there. And I looked awesome!

Flame - try control pants avec corset. If all else fails, take your glasses off before you look in the mirror!

missorinoco · 05/03/2010 19:36

Tis a tedium I agree. I'm the same. I haven't been this thin since I was 18, (apart from the breastfeeding boobs which look like I've had work done,) I can't keep my trousers up without a tight leather belt yet all I can see in the mirror is my belly.

When I was younger I used to pretend I thought I was gorgeous and it worked in that other people thought I was, so some of it must have rubbed off on the way I came across. But that's not really the solution, I know, more a way to come across as confident.

Answer to your original question - you don't look fat in it. Ask someone you trust how you look, then tell yourself to believe them when they say you look great.

drloves8 · 05/03/2010 19:48

dont look in the mirror and assume what you "see" is what everyone else sees.
most people pick out the bits they dont like and "see" that bit first. other people will look at the whole of you. you probably look great , but still feel that your not so great because your in the habit of picking fault with your appearence.
size 10 - bloody marvelous imo ! .

Flame · 05/03/2010 20:32

@ taking off glasses/contacts. I remember comign home from a shopping trip miserable because all the clothes looked hideous on me (turned out to be pmt), and Psycho said "That's because you're wearing contacts and can see yourself clearly"

I also like the idea of picking out the bad bits first - you're right.

Still not a bloody clue what I am wearing, but meh, I feel sure I'll find something.
