...even though im not a super skinny size 14...and they looked fine! im in shock. got some boots to wear with them and a long line top but have to say i didnt look completely ridiculous, they are a very very dark denim but look really smart.

im converted. (the last pair i tried on from Next looked so horrendous they went straight back! the ones ive bought today are from Dorothy Perkins and very nice they are too.) in fact im off back to get the black ones. im a convert! Yay!

still no way im buying jeggins....

Can you do us a linky?

Ladyem · 04/03/2010 21:27

Ooo, have been thinking about super skinnies as all my skinnies end up being 'baggies' by the end of the day!! Might have to have a little peruse at DPs at the weekend!

Lionstar · 04/03/2010 21:36

Got my super skinnies from New Look. Wearing them today and have been very pleasantly surprised, they wear well, feel comfortable and what's more look great.

And while I was at it got a couple of lovely dress/tops from the 'Apricot' line (never come across them before) that are just gorgeous. I liked lots of things in that line, but they were a strange mix of designs that were either so out there they were tres cool or were maybe tipping over the edge into the ridiculous. Look at these what do you think? (none of those are what I bought, but you get the idea)

ThatVikRinA22 · 04/03/2010 22:24

these if the link works!

they look better on than off i have to say, but i really like them.

bought with
this

hope these links work!

ThatVikRinA22 · 04/03/2010 22:52

hey domesticslattern - i am a 14 arse and a 12 boobs....i actually look fine in them. my legs are ok when covered up! they actually really do look good, i really was thinking i was stoopid for trying them on at my age/size but i was very pleasantly surprised.

im going to get the black ones tomorrow.

yousaidit · 04/03/2010 22:59

i am a size 18 and i got some skinnies (not super skinnies) from next, a=wear them with chunky heels with leg going past ankle to make my legs look longer and a fitted long line jumper to cover hideous arse and, dare i say it, they don't look too bad, eb=ven my mum said they looked nice! and without falling off sofa pissing self laughing!

domesticslattern · 04/03/2010 23:26

but what about, erm, muffin top?

yousaidit · 04/03/2010 23:42

they are extreeeemely forgiving around the waist, and i don't wear a clingy top withthem, its more boyfriend bias cut style jumper thing: military planning and all that!

Amandoh · 05/03/2010 10:28

Ok. Having been embarrassed out of my jeggings I read "- i am a 14 arse and a 12 boobs....i actually look fine in them. my legs are ok when covered up! they actually really do look good" and am going to try a pair today.

I'll report back!

PoppityPing · 05/03/2010 17:19

If they are forgiving around the waist, do they stay up? I have terrible trouble with skinnies as they work their way down my legs as I walk until the crotch is at knee level.

I have had to ratchet the snake belt up to maximum to make them stay, and even then there is a lot of evenin' all style knee bending needed to reposition them.

bobs · 05/03/2010 17:28

I have the same problem poppity - I have skinny hips and legs but a lot of "extra" on the waist so anything remotely tight on the waist makes me bulge out all over. So I go for a larger waist and hey presto...they fall down if I do anything as strenuous as running/dancing.
I was bought the DP super skinnies last week and could just do with a tad highter waist to keep it all tucked in...any suggestions other that per una anyone??? have tried nyd jeans - too stretchy

PoppityPing · 05/03/2010 17:46

I would say I had fairly chunky thighs compared to the rest of me, and a shapely bottom , although am size 10/12. I guess I don't have much shape though, I'm a bit straight up and down apart from my bottom, which mostly goes out backwards rather than sideways iyswim.
I think gravity is stronger around my ankles.

BendyBob · 05/03/2010 17:50

Hmm interesting/reassuring. I thought you were all going to be size 6 or something.

I do usually like DP jeans though, I must admit. Never tried skinnies though.

PinkKumquat · 05/03/2010 18:11

I think anyone can do superskinnies with the right pair, good top and boots. A jegging on the other hand.......

ThatVikRinA22 · 05/03/2010 18:43

mmmm...poppity im having the same problem a bit...im wearing them for a night out tonight - they are working their way down to give me a lovely builders bum!

i keep pulling em up tho and the top is so long you cant tell.

i tried the 12's on today but they felt too tight. and the black ones had sold out...boooo!

OP posts:
florencepink · 05/03/2010 19:29

really like the top from dp vicar, is it a two piece or is the floral bit a sewn insert?

PoppityPing · 05/03/2010 21:46

Hmm, maybe it's something that can't be avoided then? I think the fabric needs to be very thin and light for it not to happen, I have other skinnies in lighter lycra/cotton type fabrics and they aren't so bad. I think it'll have to be a jegging for me....haven't found a pair I like yet though.

Amandoh · 05/03/2010 22:57

Ok. I tried on the super skinnies in DP today in sizes 12 and 14 and both looked awful on my legs. I think they're just a bit too stretchy. I probably could have got a size eight done up! They sort of concertinered (Spelling?) all the way up from my ankles to mid thigh. I do have slim legs though so it's my stupid body shape rather than the jeans.

I'd hoped they'd be a good alternative to the jeggings but the jeggings look better on. Hate the elastic tops but I'm wearing them with a selection of longer length tops so they can't be seen.

Back to the drawing board.

Amandoh · 05/03/2010 22:58

FlorencePink I saw that top today and it's a sewn in top front.

ThatVikRinA22 · 05/03/2010 23:35

tis a sewn in top front with a sort of fake cardi thing....but its nice on.

Vicar - I bought the skinny jeans also in DPs on Sat having read this thread - I honestly didn't think I could get a pair that would look nice on me but was so pleasantly suprised!! They come in a nice dark indigo colour and look very good on, and look much more expensive than they cost! They are quite stretchy so the very helpful girl in the shop did advise to go down a size, which I did. Thanks so much Vicar for the tip!

ThatVikRinA22 · 08/03/2010 13:49

your welcome! they are the only ones ive tried that looked ok on me.

i think im going to have to get a belt for mine or try the 12's again when i get the black ones though, still, they aren't too expensive so i can live with a bit of slippage! (and a long top!)
