I live in france and fully concur with the sentiments of the article (except the plastic surgery bit which i think is a cop out 'cos yr age will show somehow).
Iam a well preserved 59 and definitely get more attention from frenchmen than in england i'm not sure whether they're really interested in intelligence though i think it's sex!!

France is a more rule-based society, England more permissive. Finding the happy middle ground of knowing all the rules and also knowing when to bend/break them is the work of a lifetime!

Enjoyed the article - and must admit do approve of the generic chic style the french do so well. French women somehow learn how to be chic at a very young age...and I remember the awesomely (well, comparatively!)charming and intelligent exchange students I met in my teens who were effortlessly chic. Certainly more so than my legwarmer dayglo wearing counterparts! I do have french heritage so perhaps I am biased!
